At this time, the Eighth Route Army, which was in the midst of fierce fighting, saw two Japanese girls sitting on the ground crying, while their parents had dispersed and their father was in danger. When the Eighth Route Army saw this scene, it did not see them dead because they were Japanese, but braved artillery fire to bring them back.
The father of the two little girls died of injuries that could not be treated, leaving only two little girls, one only 4 years old, named Mieko, and the other was just a baby. The soldiers of the Eighth Route Army brought the two little girls to Marshal Nie Rongzhen and asked him what he should do. After Marshal Nie Rongzhen saw the capital, he immediately boiled porridge for Mieko, and personally fed her to drink, and also went to the countryside to find a nurse to take care of the baby who was still swaddling.
However, the front line was too dangerous, and they had difficulty taking care of the two children, so Marshal Nie Rongzhen decided to find a fellow countryman, return the two girls to the Japanese army, and write them a letter in the way, hoping that they could see the disaster they had caused. However, it is clear that the Japanese army did not care about the content of the letter.
After the two children were returned to the Japanese army, the baby eventually died because of his weak physique, but the little girl survived and was sent back to Japan.
The return of a Japanese little girl
Although the little girl had been sent back to Japan, a few days of getting along had made Marshal Nie and the little girl have an affair, so he often worried about his situation. After the founding of New China, Marshal Nie always wanted to know how Mieko was doing, so in 1980, the People's Daily published a news story looking for the little girl. The news soon spread to Japan, and after many inquiries, Mieko was finally found.
Mieko was very excited to learn the news, although she could not remember many things because of her young age, but she knew that it was a Chinese soldier who had laid her down. So in 1980, she took her family to China to visit Nie Shuai and thank her for saving her life. The Japanese people who knew about this incident referred to Nie Shuai as a "living bodhisattva."
After decades of not seeing, Mieko has become an ordinary mother with 3 children, although she is just an ordinary person, but she also wants to exert her energy to repay Nie Shuai's life-saving grace once. Therefore, she has come to China five times since then, running for the friendship between China and Japan, and making great contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
