According to the Qing Palace archives, before Jiaqing succeeded to the throne, there were already four women around him, namely the Xi Tara clan of The Concubine Fujin (Empress Xiao Shurui), the Side Fu Jin Niu HuLu Clan (Empress Xiao Herui), the official woman Liu Shi and the official woman Hou Shi, the Xi Tara clan and the Niu Hulu clan later became the Empress of the Great Qing Dynasty, and the remaining two official women Liu Shi and Hou Shi were also very favored, of which Liu Shi was crowned imperial concubine, that is, Heyu Emperor Guifei, and Hou Shi was named concubine, that is, the Hua Concubine that I want to talk about today.

When you see Concubine Hua, you may think of the noble concubine in the "Biography of Zhen Huan", but there is no Concubine Hua in the Yongzheng Harem, and the historical prototype of the Chinese Concubine in the Biography of Zhen Huan is the Noble Concubine Nianshi, that is, the Dunsu Emperor Concubine. There was indeed a Concubine Hua in the history of the Qing Dynasty, and she was the concubine of the Jiaqing Harem.
According to the records, the ancestors of The Hou clan of Huafei were Hou Youcai, a Han Chinese from Shenyang in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and they were related to the Concubine Ling of the Qianlong Harem, and when Hou Youcai was a member of the Hou clan, the Hou clan was incorporated into the Internal Affairs Office with a yellow flag and a collar, and he and his son Hou Shijie were idle people in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, until Hou Youcai's grandchildren began to enter the army, and Princess Hua's father became the secretary of the Shangsi Yuan, that is, the official responsible for raising horses for the imperial court.
In the thirty-ninth year of Qianlong, Qianlong married The Fifteenth Elder Brother Yongyan (Jiaqing) to Concubine Fujin, that is, the Xitara clan, at that time There were no official women around Yongyan to serve, so Qianlong rewarded two official women to Yongyan in the forty-second year of Qianlong and forty-three years of Qianlong, and in the forty-second year of Qianlong, this was the Noble Concubine Liu of Heyu who later gave birth to the eldest son of the Emperor, Mu Junwang, and the forty-third year of Qianlong was the Marquis of Huafei.
At that time, Hou was only a thirteen-year-old girl, Yongyan saw that she was very well-behaved, and occasionally spoiled her, Hou gave birth to a sixth daughter in the fifty-fourth year of Qianlong for Yongyan, who had been crowned the Prince of Jia, but yongyan's daughter only lived for one year and died of smallpox, after which Hou never had any children.
However, after Jiaqing succeeded to the throne, Hou Shi, as one of the few old people in Jiaqing Qiandi, obtained a good title, she was crowned as a concubine, Jiaqing six years, in Jiaqing's second canonization of harem concubines, Hou was given the title of Jing Concubine, and then changed her name to Hua Concubine. "Hua" means gorgeous and beautiful, which shows that Hou Must be a woman with outstanding appearance.
However, according to the Qing Palace medical case, Hou Shi had a lack of blood qi, I don't know if it is related to the birth of the sixth daughter of the Emperor, which makes Hou's body very weak, Jiaqing 9 June 28, in Hou Shi was crowned As a Concubine, only three years later, she died of illness in the palace, estimated to be about forty years old.
After Princess Huafei's death, Jiaqing personally went to the golden coffin of Ji'an to pay tribute, which shows that Jiaqing was also a very nostalgic person, and the next year, Concubine Hua was buried in the Changling Concubine Garden.
