After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Li Jiulong held many important positions, such as deputy commander of the army, deputy division commander of the army division, commander of the Jinan Military Region, deputy director of the General Logistics Department, commander of the Chengdu Military Region, etc., and was awarded the rank of lieutenant general and general in September 1988 and May 1994, respectively.

During the visit, Li Jiulong dragged his sick body and asked about the troops from time to time, during which Li Jiulong suddenly asked such a question, that is, "Do you know what is the reason why the current social atmosphere is so bad?" Zhang Shuping, an old subordinate, said: "It may be because of reform and opening up, the erosion of decadent Western ideas. ”
