In recent years, public security organs have attached great importance to protecting the security of citizens' personal information. The reporter learned from the press conference held by the Ministry of Public Security on the 14th that in response to illegal collection, provision and resale of citizens' personal information, since 2016, the Ministry of Public Security has organized public security organs across the country to carry out special operations to crack down on crimes infringing on citizens' personal information for six consecutive years, detecting more than 33,000 related cases and arresting more than 76,000 criminal suspects.

In response to the chaos of some apps collecting citizens' personal information beyond the scope, the Ministry of Public Security, together with multiple departments, has carried out special rectification, promoted network security supervision and inspection and rectification of hidden dangers, and strengthened network security level protection and data security protection. In February 2020, the Ministry of Public Security, together with 17 ministries and commissions, established a long-term mechanism for cracking down on crimes that endanger citizens' personal information and data security, further enhancing the joint force of the crackdown and rectification work.

Due to the large stock of citizens' personal information in the online black market, the soil for crime breeding still exists. In the next step, in response to such crimes, the public security organs will work with relevant departments to conscientiously implement the Criminal Law, the Personal Information Protection Law, the Data Security Law and other laws and regulations, further improve the long-term mechanism for cracking down on violations and crimes that endanger citizens' personal information and data security, persist in attaching equal importance to crackdown and prevention, continue to crack down hard with high pressure, do a good job of source prevention and control, reduce the occurrence of illegal crimes, and resolutely protect the security of the people's personal information.
