According to the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK), at about 8:30 a.m. on the 15th, in front of the University of Tokyo in Bunkyo Ward, a man in his 70s and a man and a woman who took the entrance examination were attacked with knives, and 3 people have been sent to the hospital for treatment without danger to their lives. Tokyo police arrested the attacker, a 17-year-old male, on suspicion of attempted murder, and the details are under investigation.

Japan held a national university entrance examination on the 15th and 16th, with a total of 677 examination rooms across the country, with a total of 530,000 people referring to it. Tokyo University said that 3,700 people took the university entrance examination at the university's examination room this year, and the test on the 15th was not affected by the attack, and the subsequent examinations will be carried out as usual.
