The Tesla OTA update fixes a heat pump issue that can work at low temperatures

Every winter, electric vehicles will have various problems. Especially in cold areas, some parts of electric vehicles are frozen from time to time, resulting in a poor driving experience for car owners.

The Tesla OTA update fixes a heat pump issue that can work at low temperatures

In foreign countries, many Tesla Model 3 and Model Y owners reported that the heat pump inlet of their vehicles was frozen, resulting in sensors reporting failures, the entire system shut down, and the heating of the vehicle failed. Some car owners said that they observed that the forward air flap was frozen open and cold air was blown into the system while driving on the highway, which hindered the ability of the heat pump system to work correctly. There are also owners who complain that if this is a known problem, why doesn't Tesla warn customers? That way, I wouldn't let my family get into this situation.

At the time, Tesla insiders said the company was working hard to address the potentially fatal problem. Recently, Tesla OTA update shows that the problem has been solved. This update includes changes to how the climate system works in vehicles with heat pumps, and if the vehicle is underheated, this update may solve the problem by allowing the heat pump to work at lower temperatures.

At the same time, Tesla also suggests that the current mitigation measure is to pre-treat the vehicle 30-60 minutes before departure, using circulating air mode and automatic mode. If this situation still occurs during heavy driving at -15°C and below, if the heat does not return, please park the vehicle in a warmer place and let the vehicle warm up.
