During the period of the Republic of China, the Qing government declined, and the great powers were eyeing this, and all kinds of patriots tried to save the country. In what era of rapid change, countless people have spent their legendary lives. Sun Yat-sen, Zhang Zuolin, Wu Peifu, Yuan Shikai, etc., but the most legendary is probably another person, who ascended the throne three times and became emperor, but in the end he spent his old age peacefully as a commoner. This person is Puyi, after the liberation, a leader once asked Puyi what work he wanted to do, and the former emperor proposed two professions that are now very popular, but they were rejected.

Even when the emperor Guangxu was still his uncle, his identity was not unegoable at that time. But at that time, the Great Qing was already in decline, and the last straw was almost pressed down. In fact, there is no way for Puyi to be elected emperor by Cixi, and his father has no choice, not to mention that he is only three years old.
Puyi ascended the throne three times on December 2, 1908, the sixth year of the Republic of China (1917), and March 1, 21, the 21st year of the Republic of China (Datong Yuan, 1932). It's just that his throne is unstable, the first grade is still young, the second time is only a few days, and the third time is completely a puppet emperor. But for most of the fallen monarchs in Chinese history, he was lucky.
On August 1, 1950, after the end of the Far Eastern Military Tribunal, Puyi was transferred to China along with 263 other war criminals from Manchukuo. He changed from an emperor to a prisoner, and Presumably Puyi would have thought that this kind of life would last for the rest of his life. He heard the amnesty and said: No one can have me, and others think the same as him. But the new society is not like before, Puyi was released after ten years of accepting labor reform.
On the morning of December 4, 1959, Puyi was pardoned, and after he came out, he went to his sister's house for half a month. Later, the leaders arranged a hotel for him, and the prime minister personally received him. Asked what he thought of his future work, Puyi proposed two positions. One is a doctor, although Puyi was previously an emperor and was pampered and raised from a young age, he has always been in poor health. Over time, I will also have some medical skills, as the saying goes, long illness becomes a doctor.
However, the leader rejected his position because although Puyi could see a doctor, his medical skills were not professional. The matter of seeing a doctor is not a joke, and it is responsible for the patient. Hearing the leader say this, Puyi felt that it was also reasonable, so he proposed a second occupation, that is, to go to the Forbidden City as a staff member. This work is very suitable in his opinion, Puyi grew up in the Forbidden City, compared to this is his home, I am afraid that few people at that time knew more about the Forbidden City than he did.
But this profession was also rejected by the leader, because of Puyi's special status, he was once the emperor. If there were people visiting the forbidden city to see him or not, after thinking about it for a long time, the leader arranged another job suitable for him. That is to go to the Botanical Garden of the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Serving flowers and plants Puyi will not be too laborious in this work, which is convenient for him to cultivate as he grows older. Puyi himself liked this job, and later married a nurse Li Shuxian on April 30, 1962. After living together for several years, Puyi died of illness at 2:30 a.m. on October 17, 1967. His bumpy life ended, and the legend of the last emperor in Chinese history faded.
