Lan Yu, a native of Dingyuan, Anhui, is the brother-in-law of the famous general Chang Yuchun. After the deaths of Xu Da and Chang Yuchun, Lan Yu repeatedly commanded troops to conquer the north and south, and made great achievements for the Ming Dynasty.
In the twenty-first year of Hongwu (1388 AD), Lan Yu was appointed as a great general and led an army of 150,000 to expedition to the Northern Yuan, and returned with a great victory. Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang was very happy, praised blue jade, and compared him to Wei Qing of Han and Li Jing of Tang.
However, it was this famous general who had made great achievements in battle, who was arrested and imprisoned for treason in the twenty-sixth year of Hongwu (1393 AD), and finally was "skinned and grassed" and exterminated the three tribes. The "Blue Jade Case" spread one after another, implicating more than 15,000 meritorious generals, and finally all of them were killed, while Blue Jade was finally left with only Zhang Ren's skin, which was discovered in the Shu King's Mansion in Sichuan at the end of the Ming Dynasty.
Why did such a famous player with outstanding achievements end up with such a miserable end? Xiaobian believes that there are the following reasons:
Sapphire's arrogance
Although Lan Yu has the talent of a great general, his temperament is cruel and rough, and after he has made meritorious achievements, he is even more proud of his achievements, arrogant and indulgent, and the domestic slaves and righteous sons he has raised are rampant.
In 1388, after the great victory of the conquest of the Northern Yuan, Blue Jade was overwhelmed and privately occupied the crown princess of the Northern Yuan, conniving at the plundering of the treasure by his subordinates, which originally displeased the Ming Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang.

When Lan Yu went out to attack the Western Domain, he captured the father and son of Jianchangwei's rebel commander Yuelu Timur, thinking that his merit was greater, and he became more and more proud. I thought that there would be a great reward after returning to the dynasty, but I did not expect that Ming Taizu would leave him hanging aside. When the Emperor was crowned as the Emperor's grandson, Feng Sheng and Fu Youde were given the title of Crown Prince Taishi, while Lan Yu was only the Crown Prince Taifu. He was so dissatisfied with this that he arrogantly shouted:
"Am I not worthy to be a master"?

However, he still insisted on going his own way, and even when serving Ming Taizu's wine banquet, he repeatedly spoke out, and his generals only listened to the generals of Lan Yu, for which Zhu Yuanzhang repeatedly issued edicts and reprimands.
Zhu Biao died young
As mentioned earlier, Lan Yu is Chang Yuchun's brother-in-law, and Chang Yuchun is the father-in-law of Crown Prince Zhu Biao. With this relationship, Blue Jade is naturally a hardcore supporter of Prince Zhu Biao.
If Zhu Biao was there, he could still hold down the arrogant blue jade, but unfortunately, in 1392, the 37-year-old crown prince Zhu Biao died of illness, and the young emperor's grandson Zhu Yunjiao ascended the throne.
In addition, Zhu Dijiu, the King of Yan, was at odds with Blue Jade, and once played to Ming Taizu:
"In the dynasties, some people indulge in lawlessness, and if they do not dispose of it, they will not be able to lose their tails in the future."
Although Zhu Di did not directly state the guilt of Blue Jade, everyone knew it. Sapphire does have a lot of wrongdoing, and more seriously,
The arrogant soldiers under Blue Jade will only listen to the orders of Blue Jade alone, which is a great threat to the future king.
After Zhu Biao's death, there was no one to speak for Lan Yu, and Ming Taizu was determined to get rid of this scourge.
Zhu Yuanzhang was suspicious by nature
Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang was suspicious in the late Hongwu period,
Especially after the death of crown prince Zhu Biao, he was even more uneasy about Huaixi Xungui.
Zhu Yuanzhang needed to leave a relatively stable situation for his grandson Zhu Yunjiao, and he was naturally uneasy about the blue jade who had the strength to rebel, and more importantly,
Taizu needed a head, except for the other unsafe Xun Gui.
It just so happened that Blue Jade had many illegalities, which just gave Zhu Yuanzhang a reason for liquidation, and Taizu took the Blue Jade case as an opportunity to not only kill Blue Jade Manmen, but also incidentally solved Fu Youde, Feng Sheng, Wang Bi and other princes.

This record expresses the desolation of Zhu Yuanzhang in his later years, hoping to bring the gospel to his descendants, after the Hu Weiyong case and the Lanyu case, the descendants of Xu, Li, Tang, Geng, Guo, and Mu, who were particularly close to the Zhu family, all received a good death.
It shows that Zhu Yuanzhang did not kill indiscriminately, but had far-reaching considerations.

One day in 1393 AD, Lan Yu was caught by the Jinyi guards because of a sentence of "I am suspicious of me", and then framed on all sides for the crime of treason, and the old people in the imperial court were almost slaughtered.
