Zhu Yunxi's foreign relatives were powerful and became an obstacle to his own grandson

Did Zhu Yunzhuo rely on Zhu Yuanzhang to become emperor? The answer to this question is undoubtedly yes. After Zhu Yuanzhang became emperor, it was natural that zhu Biao, the eldest son of Zhu Biao, was made crown prince, but unfortunately Zhu Biao died early, according to the provisions of the "Emperor Ming Ancestral Training", Zhu Yuanzhang had to choose a crown prince from among the emperors and grandchildren, but Zhu Yunjiao was not the first heir, it can be said that Zhu Yuanzhang single-handedly supported him to the position of crown prince, and eventually made him successfully ascend to the emperor's throne.

According to the provisions of the "Ancestral Precepts of the Emperor Ming", Zhu Yunjiao was not the first in line to the throne

As for the order of succession of the Ming Dynasty throne, Zhu Yuanzhang clearly stipulated in the book "Huangming Ancestral Training" written in the sixth year of Hongwu (1373), "Where there is no prince in the imperial court, it must be a brother and a brother, and those born of the mother must be established, and the mother of the concubine, although it cannot be established for a long time." If a traitor abandons the concubine, the concubine shall not move, and the one who sends a letter to repay the concubine shall be on the throne, and the court shall behead the adulterer", that is, the succession to the throne shall not "abandon the concubine".

As the crown prince of the country, Zhu Biao had two crown princesses and five sons, of which the main chamber Chang clan had the eldest son Zhu Xiongying and the second son Zhu Yunxi, while the side room Lü clan had Zhu Yunxi, Zhu Yunxi, Zhu Yunxi, and Zhu Yunxi.

Zhu Yunjiao

After Zhu Biao's death in the twenty-fifth year of Hongwu (1392), because the eldest son Zhu Xiongying died earlier than the beginning of May of the fifteenth year of Hongwu (1382), the first heir to the throne at this time should be Zhu Yunxi, the second son of Hongwu in the eleventh year (1378), and Zhu Yunjiao, who was born in the tenth year of Hongwu (1377), was only the eldest son of Shu.

But there is a problem here, that is, Zhu Biao's concubine died in childbirth when she gave birth to Zhu Yunxi, and the side chamber Lü Shi was helped to become a princess (the time of Fuzheng is unknown), so that Zhu Yunzhao had the identity of half a concubine. However, the crown prince is a major national affair, and this status of "half a concubine" is still not enough to make him compete fairly with Zhu Yunxi.

Why Zhu Yuanzhang finally chose Zhu Yunjiao, Zhu Yunjiao's mother should have played a big role

Although the "Imperial Ming Ancestral Training" became the biggest obstacle for Zhu Yunjiao to become the crown prince, the "ancestral training" was established by Zhu Yuanzhang himself, and Zhu Yuanzhang himself was an extremely powerful emperor, and in the matter of Li Chu, he undoubtedly had "one veto power", and the ministers did not dare to say anything about it.

So, why did Zhu Yuanzhang choose Zhu Yunjiao between Zhu Yunjiao and Zhu Yunxi? I think there should be two main reasons:

Zhu Yunxi's foreign relatives were powerful and became an obstacle to his own grandson

Zhu Yuanzhang

1. Zhu Yunjiao is "studious and filial piety". The reason why Zhu Yunjiao won the final victory, his character undoubtedly played a key role. When he was fourteen years old, Zhu Biao fell ill, and Zhu Yunjiao carefully waited, day and night, and the duration was as long as two years. After Zhu Biao's death, Zhu Yunjiao was emaciated due to grief, and Zhu Yuanzhang saw the situation and even personally advised: "And sincerity and filial piety, do not care about me." In addition, Zhu Yunjiao, who has been familiar with Confucian classics since childhood, is also very similar to Zhu Biao in terms of personality, and is equally gentle and elegant. All this not only attracted Zhu Yuanzhang's attention, but also made him extremely satisfied. Unlike Zhu Yunjiao, Zhu Yunxi, who had lost his mother since childhood, had no chance to show his face at all, and over time, Zhu Yuanzhang naturally did not dare to hand over the Daming Jiangshan to this emperor who he did not know very well. And this, Zhu Yunjiao's mother undoubtedly played a key role.

2. Zhu Yunxi's foreign relatives are too powerful. As the crown prince, Zhu Yuanzhang spared no effort in cultivating him, not only equipping him with extremely luxurious Assistant Ministers of the Eastern Palace, but also attaching great importance to marriage. Zhu Biao's main chamber, Zhu Yunxi's mother Chang Shi, was the eldest daughter of Chang Yuchun, and although both her grandfather Chang Yuchun and her uncle Chang Mao had died, the second uncle Chang Sheng and the third uncle Chang Sen were still alive. After Zhu Biao's death, Zhu Yuanzhang often worried that future generations would not be able to suppress these founding heroes, and even slaughtered them on a large scale, and he was naturally extremely uneasy about his grandson Zhu Yunxi, who had extremely large foreign relatives, and Zhu Yunxi did not have this problem, and his mother Lü Shi was the only daughter of Lü Ben, the secretary of the Taichang Temple, and the foreign relatives were not strong.

Since ancient times, there has been a saying that "the prince is the foundation of the country", as the future emperor of the country, the matter of the crown prince has to be cautious, but it is a pity that Zhu Yuanzhang finally looked away, although Zhu Yunjiao was a good child, it was a pity that he was not a good emperor. Moreover, judging from the time of his attack on the king of the domain, his "sexual filial piety" may have been pretended at the behest of his mother, and if this is the case, then the wise and divine Zhu Yuanzhang is a big fool.
