Zhang Taisheng, born in 1918, a native of Nanxi Town, Jinzhai County, Anhui Province, joined the Red Army at the age of 12. Although the family is poor, Zhang Taisheng's father attaches great importance to his child's education and saves money to send him to school. At school, Jang Tai-sheng met a teacher who changed his fate, Liao Jingmin.
Teacher Liao is a secret member of our party and has great appreciation for Zhang Taisheng. In 1929, the Red Fourth Front established the Northwest Anhui Bank. Zhang Taisheng followed Mr. Liao to work as a clerk in the bank. In fact, the Northwest Bank of Anhui is a subordinate organization of the General Manager Department of the Red Fourth Front. Zhang Taisheng himself did not know about this matter, and he was already a member of the Red Army.
In October 1932, Zhang Taisheng moved to the Sichuan-Shaanxi region with the Red Fourth Front. During the Long March, 17-year-old Zhang Taisheng climbed snowy mountains and meadows with his comrades-in-arms, and completed the Long March with great hardships.
In November 1937, when the Western Route Army began its fierce western expedition, Zhang Taisheng was 19 years old and was a custodian of the General Supply Department of the Western Route Army, responsible for the custody of gold, silver dollars and other cash needed by the troops.
Zheng Yizhai
The Hexi Corridor is sparsely populated, materials are scarce, and the troops fight while walking, so it is very difficult to provide material support. Zheng Yizhai, director of the General Supply Department, took Zhang Taisheng and others everywhere to find ways and raise materials. In Linze, the General Supply Department and logistics personnel of the Western Route Army were resting when they were suddenly attacked by majiajun.
In the city, there are mainly more than 1,200 personnel in the logistics department of the headquarters of the Western Route Army, heavy troops, hospitals, supply departments, quilt factories, arsenals and other units, and only more than 60 people from the first guard company and more than 340 people from the women's independent battalion participated in the battle.
At the critical juncture, Zheng Yizhai, minister of the General Supply Department, and Qin Jiwei, director of the Fourth Bureau, commanded the soldiers to engage in a bloody battle with the enemy. But they were outnumbered, and two days later, Zheng Yizhai and others decided to take advantage of the night to break through.
God was very powerful, that night, it snowed heavily. The warriors wrapped the horseshoe in cotton wool to avoid making a noise. The transfer of logisticians is very painful, a large number of materials, especially as military expenses of gold, silver dollars, etc. are reluctant to throw, can not be thrown, with very heavy, can not go fast.
Zhang Taisheng put a bag of silver dollars in his custody on horseback and quietly set out on the road with the groom.
The next day, ma jiajun found that the Red Army had withdrawn and frantically chased after it. The soldiers of the General Supply Department carried a lot of supplies and could not run fast. The enemy cavalry soon caught up, and the troops were cut in two.
It was freezing cold, a shell landed not far from Zhang Taisheng, and the horse was lying on the frozen ground, unable to get up. The bullets roared and shuttled around, and the groom saw this, unloaded the cloth bag containing the silver dollar from the horse's back, and flew away.
Zhang Taisheng looked at Ma Fu's back and shook his head helplessly. He grabbed the corner of the cloth bag and dragged the cloth bag forward little by little. The cloth bag full of silver dollars was really heavy, and before he could go far, Zhang Taisheng was exhausted and breathless.
There were gunshots everywhere, and the Majia army cavalry held up sabers and rushed straight through, slashing at people when they saw them. There were corpses everywhere, and patches of blood flowed on the ground, but soon froze into blood clots. Zhang Taisheng hesitated for a while, and had to throw down the cloth bag filled with silver dollars and run in the direction of the Ni family's camp.
Qin Jiwei
Zhang Taisheng escaped, but the silver dollar he was responsible for protecting was lost, and he was always very guilty, until he recalled this matter after liberation, and he still had a strong thought, which was a pity!
After the Shiwo Conference, Zhang Taisheng was transferred from the General Supply Department to the Red Thirty Army Guards for a second term, responsible for the protection of li Xiannian, the military political commissar.
The Battle of Hongliuyuan was the last battle of the Western Route Army. Li Xiannian mobilized everyone and said, "We have reached the last moment of life and death, we cannot be prisoners, we must kill a bloody road and rush out!" How much can you rush out! ”
The Ma family army's attack began. Zhang Taisheng was already powerless to fight anymore, too tired, he could no longer open his legs, he could only grab the horse's tail and habitually follow the horse. But he didn't run far, and he fell heavily to the ground.
Zhang Taisheng woke up, struggled to climb forward, met two comrades-in-arms on the road, and the three of them walked all the way begging all the way, and finally came to the Star Gorge.
Li Xiannian
In Xinjiang, the rescued soldiers of the Western Route Army were recruited into a new barracks, and Zhang Taisheng entered an artillery training class to study.
In 1940, Zhang Taisheng returned to Yan'an with other cadets as a platoon leader of the artillery regiment of the 129th Division. Subsequently, he led the artillery platoon to participate in the Battle of the Hundred Regiments.
Zhang Taisheng's regiment was responsible for cooperating with the infantry in attacking Yuci County. The Japanese shrank into the turret, and he commanded the soldiers to carry out several rounds of shelling, and the Japanese were unscathed. The infantry is about to attack, what to do? In a hurry, Zhang Taisheng ordered the soldiers to carry the cannons to the castle tower, so that the Japanese artillery tower was exposed to the artillery fire of our army. With the sound of several "boom" cannons, the Japanese turrets collapsed.
After the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Zhang Taisheng was promoted to deputy battalion commander of the artillery battalion of the Second Column of the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Field Army, and followed Liu Deng's army into Dabie Mountain and returned to his hometown after 17 years of absence. After the Battle of Huaihai, Zhang Taisheng was promoted to the commander of the artillery battalion.
During the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Zhang Tai was promoted to commander of the Forty-fourth Regiment of the 8th Artillery Division of the Volunteer Army, led his troops into the Korean War, and was later transferred to the deputy chief of staff and chief of staff of the Headquarters of the Third Artillery Division of the Volunteer Army.
In March 2015, Zhang Taisheng died in Hefei at the age of 98.
