China's ultra-high-definition video industry has made key breakthroughs in the research and development and industrialization of 8K key technology products. Recently, Hisense officially released China's first fully self-developed 8K AI picture quality chip in Beijing.

"China has achieved the world's largest scale in the field of consumer electronics, color TV shipments have ranked first in the global market for many years, and the display panel has also achieved the world's first, but the bottleneck restricting the high-quality development of the industry is still the chip, and the industrial supporting chip still needs a large number of imports, which to some extent affects the industrial upgrading and the popularity of high-end products." Xu Wenli, deputy director of the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introduced.

"The global display industry has shifted from the competition of 'screen' and sales volume to the competition of 'core' and the competition of audio and picture quality. 2022 will be the inflection point of global TELEVISION competition: out of the decades of 'cost-effective' disputes, completely into the battle of picture quality, quality. Yu Zhitao, vice president of Hisense Group Holdings, said that for decades, Chinese, Japanese and South Korean companies have launched fierce competition around display technology and industrial chain, and Hisense has always stood at the forefront of this war. Especially in the core track of chip technology, Hisense endures loneliness, and has launched 4 generations of picture quality chips and achieved mass production, forming a unique advantage in the picture quality track to get rid of homogeneous competition.

At present, there are two kinds of enterprises in the field of picture quality chips in the world: one is Sony, Hisense and other head TV manufacturers, with their own chip teams, independently design picture quality chips for their own use; the second type is other general chip companies to do picture quality chips, provided to TV manufacturers that do not have independent picture quality chip design capabilities, but this picture quality chip still cannot escape the fate of homogenization. Many domestic TV brands have adopted the chips debugged by such chip manufacturers, which cannot produce differentiated competitiveness.

China's first fully self-developed 8k AI quality chip released this time is hisense 5th generation picture quality chip, which represents the highest processing power of a single picture quality chip in China. The chip for the first time to achieve leapfrog development from 4K to 8K, equipped with artificial intelligence with "deep neural network" technology, supporting accurate reconstruction of 33 million + pixels, showing the rich hidden details in the picture; by supporting 26880 partition backlight control, it brings the ultimate contrast improvement, making the bright and dark parts of the picture more layered; in terms of color control, it supports 48bit color depth, 7897 color dot control; and realizes 8K 120Hz motion clarity compensation.

At present, Hisense 8K AI quality chip has been used in the whole machine, and this year will fully cover many series of display products including Hisense and Toshiba two major brands. In the face of the advent of the 8K Ultra HD era, Hisense will also launch 8K broadcast-grade professional monitors and Micro LED TVs this year.
