Chiang Kai-shek once launched five consecutive "encirclement and suppression" campaigns against the Red Army, and in the fifth anti-"encirclement and suppression" battle, because bogu, who was in charge at the time, trusted Li De, a military adviser sent by the Comintern, the Red Army was defeated in the fifth anti-"encirclement and suppression" battle, and the Red Army was forced to start a strategic shift.
Objectively speaking, at that time, the Red Army had reached a precarious point, and if it continued to be under the command of Bogu and Li De, the consequences would be unimaginable. In order to correct the mistakes made since the Fifth Anti-"Encirclement and Suppression", the Zunyi Conference was held in January 1935 when the Red Army marched to Zunyi.
The Zunyi Conference systematically corrected the mistakes made since the Fifth Anti-"Encirclement and Suppression" Campaign, relieved Bogu, Li De, and others of military command, and set up a three-member military group, including Wang Jiaxiang. Since then, the Red Army has gradually turned the tide of the situation and met the division in victory in northern Shaanxi. Afterwards, even the chairman said: "The Zunyi meeting could not do without Wang Jiaxiang, and Wang Jiaxiang cast a key vote to support me."
Most people are familiar with Wang Jiaxiang's story, and today we will talk about the ending of Wang Jiaxiang's wife. Wang Jiaxiang's wife, Zhu Zhongli, was born in 1915 in Changsha, Hunan Province, into a family of official eunuchs. Zhu Zhongli's grandfather was a soldier shangshu of the Qing Dynasty, and his father Zhu Jianfan was also a famous educator in modern times.
Born in such a family, Zhu Zhongli received a good education from an early age and began to contact revolutionary ideas under the guidance of her father. In 1932, at the age of 17, Zhu Zhongli joined the Communist Youth League and began to participate in revolutionary activities. In 1937, Zhu Zhongli abandoned her life in a big city and came to Yan'an, the holy land of revolution, to work as a surgeon. Because of her outstanding performance, in 1938, Zhu Zhongli, who was only 23 years old, became a party member.
When Zhu Zhongli arrived in Yan'an, Wang Jiaxiang happened to be serving as a representative to the Comintern in the Soviet Union. The following year, Wang Jiaxiang returned to China from the Soviet Union, after which he met the naïve and lively Zhu Zhongli. At that time, Wang Jiaxiang had divorced his second wife for many years and had been living alone. After being matched by the leaders, Wang Jiaxiang and Zhu Zhongli gradually came together and married in 1939.
After marrying Wang Jiaxiang, Zhu Zhongli has been living in Yan'an, where she successively served as the director of the medical clinic and a female university teacher, and then as Wang Jiaxiang's personal secretary and health doctor. After the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Zhu Zhongli followed her husband Wang Jiaxiang to the northeast and served as the president of the First Municipal Hospital in Harbin, and was responsible for the preparation of the Shenyang Health Bureau.
After the founding of New China, Wang Jiaxiang was appointed as the first ambassador to the Soviet Union, and Zhu Zhongli followed her husband to the Soviet Union as the ambassador's wife. In 1951, Wang Jiaxiang stepped down as ambassador to the Soviet Union and began to serve as the head of the Foreign Liaison Department. Zhu Zhongli also returned to China at this time and served as the director of the health department.
Since then, Zhu Zhongli has been working in the health department, successively serving as deputy secretary general of the Medical Association and vice president of the Sino-Soviet Friendship Hospital. In the 1960s and 1970s, for special historical reasons, Zhu Zhongli was treated unfairly and was isolated in a dry rest house in Henan, where she spent her difficult years.
In 1974, after the death of her husband Wang Jiaxiang, Zhu Zhongli has been living alone, she often misses her deceased husband, in order to alleviate the pain of lovesickness, Zhu Zhongli in her later years began to try to write. Since 1979, Zhu Zhongli has written a total of 15 novels, and also written dozens of memoirs, providing us with valuable references for us to study the history of that era.
In her later years, Zhu Zhongli served as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the Beijing People's Representative, and retired in 1990. In 2014, Zhu Zhongli died of illness at the age of 99.
