Theater Command Secrets

Zhang Junjie

In early autumn, the Han River is still windy and sunny, full of verdant eyes, showing a vibrant scene.

At noon, after attending the banquet for the promotion of the son of a colleague, he accompanied the foreign literary friends to enter the old river mouth again, which was the former site of Li Zongren's Fifth Theater Commander's Headquarters opposite the Aohua Hotel, and across the wide Beijing Road, erected a cement inscription to briefly introduce the purpose of building the old site. The old site covers an area of 2,530 square meters and is divided into one well and three courtyards. The front courtyard is a typical brick and wood structure of the northern residence, the main hall is Li Zongren's "reception room", and the north and south sides are "attendant room", "consultant room", "investigation room", "confidential room" and so on. The backyard is a brick and wood imitation European building, which is the "military conference room of senior generals" and The "study" and "bedroom" of Li Zongren.

Along the direction of these pavilions, we browsed all the propaganda materials on the walls one by one, and everyone sang and talked about the large and small battles that Li Zongren successfully commanded during the 6 years of stationing at the old river mouth, annihilating more than 100,000 Japanese Kou, and few people explored some potential secret stories through the photos of some soldiers on the wall.

After accompanying the experts in Wuhan to study regional culture, I have been thinking about a question: Why did the 1984 "Hubei County and City Overview" mention Laohekou City and Gwanghwa County Zhizhong, li Zongren's Fifth Theater Commander's Headquarters? The only one that shows about the War of Resistance is also the important event column of Yicheng County Chronicle, which is less than 20 words in "Anti-Japanese Heroic Zhang Zizhong Martyrdom". Speaking from the heart, Li Zongren persisted in the "scorched earth war of resistance" at the moment of national peril, led the officers and men of the Fifth Theater to meet in Xuzhou, won the first battle in the frontal battlefield, and won the victory in the "Battle of Taierzhuang"; after moving to the mouth of the river, he broke the Pinghan Railway, clamped down on Wuhan, shielded Sichuan and Shaanxi, led his troops to be active in the Hubei, Henan, and Anhui regions, and successively fought famous battles with the invading Japanese army such as the Battle of Suizhao, the Battle of Zaoyi, and the Battle of Southern Henan, and persisted in the War of Resistance at Laohekou for six years, defending a large area of land in northern Hubei and southern Henan, and smashing the Japanese army to consolidate central China After the merger of counties and cities, in 1987, the small city party vigorously publicized it in the third period of the junior high school, and the former site of the Fifth Theater Headquarters was opened to the public.

Life is like a play, and a play is like life. In China's political arena, before the reform and opening up, the two major parties of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China were divided and merged due to their different political views, which made many historical events lose their luster. This is why people such as me rarely patronize the former headquarters of Commander Li Zongren in the Fifth Theater and explore the roots of this period of history.

With regard to the contributions made by the Kuomintang and the Communists of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, especially the meritorious deeds established by Li Zongren and all the officers and men of the Fifth Theater, since the beginning of reform and opening up, our party's newspapers and periodicals have successively published many similar articles such as "Magnificent Mountains and Rivers -- Entering the Former Site of the Commander's Headquarters of the Fifth Theater," "Li Zongren: 'Mengzai' Annihilated the Enemy Taierzhuang," and "Anti-Japanese Battlefield: Walking into the Former Site of the Headquarters of Commander Li Zongren of the Fifth Theater." These things are difficult for me to arouse my interest. However, in this tour with foreign literary friends, there were several group photos, and the photos of two people attracted great attention from me - Wang Bingnan and Liu Zhonghua. In the entire exhibition hall, these two extremely inconspicuous figures who do not have prominent text propaganda logos have made outstanding achievements in the history of the Communist Party of China. Unfortunately, only their names are marked under the picture, and Liu Zhonghua has only a few words such as: He served as a senator in Li Zongren's Fifth Theater Commander's Headquarters.

Not to mention Wang Bingnan's popularity, it is that Liu Zhonghua searched for it slightly in the media: you will be frightened, one of the most famous undercover agents in the history of the CCP. This figure was his descendant the year before, that is, the head of our general administration for industry and commerce, when he came to Laohekou to inspect the work, when he visited the former site of Li Zongren's headquarters of the commander of the Fifth Theater, we only noticed this outstanding underground worker of the party, and what disappointed me was that it was difficult for the small town to find historical information about Liu Zhonghua.

Liu Zhonghua, who served as a senator in Li Zongren's Fifth Theater Commander's Headquarters, was born in 1899 in ChengXian County, Shanxi (present-day Yuanping). He joined the Communist Party of China in 1923. After the beginning of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he served as a senator in the headquarters of Li Zongren's Commander of the Fifth Theater, doing united front work, and contributing to Li Zongren's acceptance of the Communist Party's anti-Japanese political program. At that time, many cultural youth came to the Fifth Theater from the enemy-occupied areas, and Liu Zhonghua suggested to Li Zongren that these young people who had been exiled to the Fifth Theater be organized to carry out anti-Japanese activities. Li Zongren accepted Liu Zhonghua's suggestion and opened a training course for young cadres in wartime. On April 1, 1949, Liu Zhonghua, as an adviser to the Nanjing government and the delegation of the talks, flew to Beiping with Zhang Zhizhong. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as the director of the Beijing Municipal Garden bureau. This is still collected from the media, through this period of study of local party, government, military, literature and historical data, Fang knows that the reason why Li Zongren was able to achieve brilliant achievements in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression has a lot to do with his enlightenment and letting go of the use of Communist Party Liu Zhonghua.

However, Liu Zhonghua and other communists were like the rapids of the Han River, turning a small whirlpool after a big bend, and during the 1938-1944 Li Zongren Fifth Theater War of Resistance, they were often key figures who were easily ignored.

Small town language: a good man, three gangs; a fence, three piles. Everyone may think that Liu Zhonghua's ancestors and descendants are the highest leaders of the author, so they want to vigorously publicize his deeds. In fact, this is not the case, leaving aside what tremendous contributions it has made to our party, the mere fact that he proposed to "organize these young people who have fallen into the five theaters of war to carry out anti-Japanese activities" will cultivate a large number of elite contingents of various kinds for the future new China.

Turning over the archives of local party, government, and military literature, there are almost many people who are active in the political and literary circles of New China in the future. In the autumn of 1939, Yao Xueyan, Zang Kejia, Biye, Hu Sheng, Mao Dun, Guo Moruo, and other cultural teams came to Laohekou in Xiaocheng to engage in anti-war propaganda, "Thunderstorm", "Put Down Your Whip", "Sunrise" and so on often performed in the streets and alleys, "Songhua River", "Wandering Trilogy", "March of the Volunteer Army", "March of the Big Knife" and other anti-Japanese songs resounded over the Han River, and even Zhang Guangnian followed the washing of xinghai back to his hometown Laohekou and repeatedly sang the "Yellow River Chorus" they cooperated with. The fighting spirit of the people and the people to resist Japan was great. It was also the role of this good proposal that allowed the "Cultural Work Committee, the Guanghe Military and Civilians' Club, the Five Theaters Art Society, the Political Brigade, and the Child Labor Brigade" to mushroom after a rainstorm; more importantly, this proposal drove Li Zongren to organize three military schools at different levels to train anti-Japanese military backbones during his time at Laohekou: the Fifth Theater Senior Cadre Training Class, which won victory in the National Military and Civilian War of Resistance and later trained a large number of military and political talents for our party. It was by relying on wisdom that the underground workers of the Cpc such as the staff officers, staff officers, Liu Zhonghua, and other outstanding party underground workers won the victory of the United Front of the Communist Party of China in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, which was widely participated in by the people of all nationalities, and made immortal meritorious contributions to the War of Resistance Against Japan! There are many, many people who have been influenced by this advice to achieve their lives. For example, Zhang Guangnian's predecessor's poems and poems of the world-famous "Yellow River Chorus" were completed during this period, and even Chairman Mao Zedong applauded after listening to it: "Good! Good! Premier Zhou Enlai also wrote a special inscription: "Roar for the War of Resistance, compose a song for the masses." In March 1991, when Zhang Guangnian (Guangwei Ran) revisited the hometown of his predecessors, when he wrote the preface to the "Chronicle of Laohekou City", he wrote: "Laohekou, this important town in northwest Hubei and the Han River, this place where I was born and raised, in the late twenty years, I began to accept the baptism of revolution. It once occupied an important position in the history of my life..." From this, Liu Zhonghua's predecessors were indispensable.

Looking down on the yellow and bald land of Sanyuan in Shaanxi Province from the plane, comrades who studied the Xi'an incident all know that the family of Wang Bingnan, the first ambassador of New China to the United Nations, had a very good personal relationship with Yang Hucheng, and that he and Yang Hucheng had a father-son relationship. You can also see from the official books published in succession that it was precisely with the assistance of Wang Bingnan and other outstanding party members of our party that the Xi'an Incident was successful, and Wang Bingnan went on an outing with his wife of German nationality, and Sanyuan was not as dilapidated as other counties in Shaanxi, because this was a big figure- Yu Youren, president of the Nanjing Government Control Yuan. In China, according to tradition, after becoming an official, you have to give strength to your hometown, so the architecture here is very famous, and after the Xi'an Incident on December 12, 1936, Wang Bingnan brought his daughter-in-law to relax his nerves.

I have always been very concerned about Sanyuan, Shaanxi, because it was during the era of the Japanese and Kosovars' attacks, my grandmother's family fled their hometown of Hanying to Shaanxi, and there is still a lost uncle's family that has not been seen for many years. Obviously, in order to survive, ordinary people can flee to Shaanxi, at least it shows that the Japanese-Kou invasion caused a large number of refugees to flee, and Shaanxi is also a refugee area.

Further research is not difficult to find textual materials such as "Why Yang Hucheng's proposal to join the Communist Party as a 'Erhe Dragon' was rejected; Yang Hucheng's famous anti-Japanese patriotic generals, etc.", so it is not difficult to understand why it appeared in the Fifth Theater Headquarters in 1939, and there are still photos of Li Zongren and other generals on the wall of the former site of the Fifth Theater Headquarters. The author believes that at that time, Wang Bingnan and others went to Laohekou, and it is estimated that on behalf of Yang Hucheng and other famous anti-Japanese patriotic generals, they came to support General Li Zongren in their fight against the Japanese Kou. Although the photo does not record his exploits in resisting Japan in this period of history, it shows that the Northwest Army is also supporting General Li Zongren of the Gui clan to resist the Japanese in the Fifth Theater. Today, many people along the Han River are still on the riverside pier, drinking tea and chatting while waiting for people; some people are bored shouting slogans, and few people talk about the merits made by the two silent historical figures in the small city.

Perhaps, this is the real life, everyone lives on the big stage of different eras, for some really good actors, often become behind-the-scenes figures, rarely known, but still pay without regret.

It is precisely because China has such figures who understand the value of life, so that the small town of Laohekou has endless interest, full of endless charm, so that Chinese and foreign tourists can look down to pick up historical and cultural treasures. At the end of this article, the author once again calls on you to cherish the previous secrets, and to remember the "characters" in these secrets!
