Before restoring the truth of this historical event, let's first explain why the Nationalist government wanted to arrest Han Fuyu.
A native of Bazhou, Hebei Province, Han Fuyu was one of Feng Yuxiang's "Thirteen Taibao", but defected to Chiang Kai-shek during the Great War of Chiang Feng-Yan Zhongyuan and became chairman of Shandong Province after 1930. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in 1937, Han Fuyu was appointed deputy commander of the Fifth Theater and commander-in-chief of the Third Army, responsible for commanding the Shandong military and undertaking the defense of the Yellow River.
In December 1937, the invading Japanese army crossed the Yellow River and attacked Shandong. By December 20, the Japanese army had broken through the Yellow River, and the troops were approaching the city of Jinan, and Chiang Kai-shek repeatedly sent urgent telegrams to Han Fuyu to resist, and Han Fuyu openly disobeyed the military orders and did not move. A few days later, the Japanese army captured Jinan and created the appalling "Jinan Massacre". Han Fuyu quickly withdrew westward without firing a single shot to the mountains around Juye and Cao County in southwestern Lu.
Han Fuyu abandoned the city and fled, ignoring the people of Jinan City, which made the people very angry. What is worse is that after the fall of Shandong, the gates of the Central Plains region were opened to the Japanese, and Xuzhou, Zhengzhou, Wuhan and other important towns in the Central Plains were completely exposed to the bayonets of the Japanese, and Chiang Kai-shek's entire strategic layout was completely disrupted.
In response to Han Fuyu's behavior of "not resisting Japan," Chiang Kai-shek decided to remove Han Fuyu's "stinky meat." Secretly ordered the military commander Dai Kasa to formulate an action plan for the arrest of Han Fuyu, and after the arrest, he handed it over to a military court for trial.
Dai Kasa's military command system was a master at punishing traitors and alien parties at that time, and after receiving the secret order, he immediately arranged personnel to plan the action plan and implement it. Dai Kasa urgently summoned Wang Zhaohuai, head of the special agent's foreign special service action group in Hankou, and his confidential secretary Gong Xianfang to discuss the matter.
The two secretly summoned by Dai Kasa were all masters of secret service: Wang Zhaohuai was a Huangpu IV student, and Dai Kasa was also a "student" of Chiang Kai-shek, who had served as a personal guard around Dai Kasa and the director of the Shaanxi Police Department, and in 1935, Dai Kasa promoted him to the Songhu Police Headquarters as the head of the reconnaissance brigade. Wang Zhaohuai is quick-witted, active and meticulous, and is recognized as a "stable, accurate, and ruthless" master of the Secret Service. Gong Xianfang is the sixth period of Huangpu, this person is thick, calm, and flexible, and has always been very heavy on wearing a Kasa.
The three of them discussed and immediately worked out an arrest plan that would be carried out by the fusion of "inviting the king into the urn" and "transferring the tiger away from the mountain".
Speaking of Han Fuyu, his behavior of abandoning the city without firing a shot this time must have offended Chiang Kai-shek and many generals of the Nationalist army, so he was also very vigilant.
In early January 1938, Li Zongren, commander of the Fifth Theater, sent a telegram to invite Han Fuyu to Xuzhou to attend a meeting on strategic arrangements in the theater. Xuzhou and Han Fuyu's base camp was less than a hundred miles, and he had hundreds of thousands of troops under his command. Therefore, he was not afraid of any accidents when he went to Xuzhou to participate in the meeting, but in order to prevent accidents, he still brought a regiment of guards to Xuzhou.
When Han Fuyu and a regiment of guards arrived in Xuzhou on January 7, 1937, Li Zongren divided his guards into nearly 10 places under the pretext of "tight accommodation and houses in the city". The operational meeting of the Fifth Theater was arranged to be held in the evening, and during the meeting, the air defense siren was urgently sounded, and Li Zongren took advantage of the chaos to disarm Han Fuyu's guards and arrest and guard all of Han Fuyu's entourage; at the same time, heavy guards were arranged around the meeting site, and all vehicles and personnel who came and went were isolated 2 kilometers away.
At this time, Han Fuyu was only more than a hundred kilometers away from his army, but he had become the commander of the light pole, and a guard regiment he had brought with him was all watched, and none of them slipped through the net. At this time, Chiang Kai-shek ordered Li Zongren to rush to Kaifeng with him to attend the military conference of senior anti-Japanese generals in North China. At this time, Han Fuyu was already unaccompanied in Xuzhou City, and with Li Zongren's "earnest invitation", he could not go to Kaifeng. Before heading to Kaifeng, Han Fuyu's guard was reduced to a platoon. After arriving in Kaifeng, his guard platoon was also completely disarmed.
On January 11, 1938, the "Military Conference of Senior Anti-Japanese Generals in North China" officially began in Kaifeng, and Chiang Kai-shek directly criticized Han Fuyu by name, "abandoning the city and fleeing, shaking the situation of the War of Resistance, and bringing great disasters to the whole country and the whole nation." When Han Fuyu got into the prepared car, Wang Zhaohuai and others, who had been waiting in the car for a long time, immediately tied him up and immediately took him to Hankou and sent him to a military court and sentenced to death.
