Qiu Chuangcheng was one of the founders of the artillery of the People's Liberation Army, he became the first artillery commander of the Eighth Route Army from the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and after more than 10 years of experience in blood and fire, he grew into a senior general of new China.
In 1950, the artillery headquarters was established, the commander was Chen Xilian, the first commander was Wan Yi, and Qiu Chuangcheng was only one of the deputy commanders, ranking not high, but in terms of understanding of artillery, he had more say than Chen Xilian.

In 1959, Chen Xilian was transferred, and he took over the work of the commander. Working until 1963, he took off his military uniform and went to the Third Ministry of Machinery Industry established by the State Council as a minister, where he worked for 13 years.
When he returned to the army, he was not assigned to the post of a top officer, but served as a deputy minister in the General Logistics Department, perhaps at the level of the main post, but the position was a deputy post, which was equivalent to a demotion of one level.
After six years in the logistics department, he retired to the second line and died of illness in 1982.
