Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin went to the Wu Temple to worship, and when he saw Bai Qi, he was immediately furious and said, "Killing and descending, not even martial, what is the enjoyment of this?" The reason why Zhao Kuangyin was so angry was because of the white rise and fall. The Wu Temple was built during the Tang Dynasty to sacrifice Jiang Taigong to imitate the Temple of Literature, and the Wu Temple at that time was called the Taigong Shangfu Temple. The reason was that the soldiers of the Zhao State were capricious, and if these soldiers were left behind and still wasted food, Bai Qi told these prisoners to dig a pit to bury the soldiers who died in the war. When the captives dug the pit, Bai Qi immediately ordered his soldiers to bury all the Zhao soldiers alive. As the saying goes, "killing is ominous", white people are proud of their achievements, and after the war, they are still like the devil, and finally they are killed by others with tricks, and a generation of famous generals are also in a different place.
Zhao Kuangyin ordered people to withdraw the statue of Bai Qi from the Wu Temple, in fact, there was another reason, most of the 400,000 soldiers killed by Bai Qi were surnamed Zhao, Zhao Kuangyin was also surnamed Zhao, Zhao Kuangyin thought that those were his ancestors, so he would be so angry after seeing Bai Qi. Therefore, some people think that Zhao Kuangyin did this for revenge. More than 1,000 years had passed since Bai Qi had killed the captives, and Zhao Kuangyin was so angry when he saw Bai Qi, if only because of the 400,000 prisoners, there were some words that could not be said. Before the captives surrendered, they were enemy troops, and Bai Qi led his troops to fight with them for more than a year, although in the end Zhao Guo was defeated, but both sides suffered heavy losses. It is often said that no one is perfect, and it is inevitable that there will be some emotions in the white rise just after the end of the war, and seeing these prisoners of war is very angry, and still regards them as their enemies, so they will do such impulsive things.
Zhao Kuangyin was born as a military general and has now become the founding emperor, but it is rare not to advocate killing. If Zhao Kuangyin did not do this, then because of the precedent of killing and surrendering before, in the future war, soldiers of other countries would most likely prefer to die on the battlefield rather than surrender!
