In 1902, Zhao Erxun served as the inspector of Hunan, and selected 50 students with good grades in Hunan colleges and universities to study in Japan, including Fang Dingying. At that time, Fang Dingying was still a child of ordinary school, but after seven years, he was admitted to the artillery section of the Japanese Army Non-Commissioned Officer School with excellent results, and artillery was an absolute scarce talent at that time.
Therefore, after graduating and returning to China, he directly worked as an artillery instructor for the first batch of students at the Baoding Army Officer School.
However, Fang Dingying did not think that his artillery knowledge was not very sufficient, so in 1917 he went to Japan again and attended 3 military schools, including the Tokyo Army Artillery School, the Chiba Field Artillery Shooting School in Japan, and the Artillery Department of Tokyo Imperial University, this time he studied for 4 years.
After returning to China, Tan Yanmin recommended Fang Dingying to enter the Whampoa Military Academy and make the students a minister, and as a result, he was promoted to the chief education officer of the Whampoa Military Academy the next day, and the training and education of the students were under his control.
After the National Revolutionary Army began the Northern Expedition, Chiang Kai-shek wanted to lead the army on the expedition, fearing that the Whampoa Military Academy would be out of control after he left.
Therefore, Chiang Kai-shek chose a very reassuring person to act as his principal, and he chose Fang Dingying. Fang Dingying served as the principal for 2 years, bowed down and did his best, and trained more than 5,000 outstanding students to the front line, and later many people were called famous generals of the national army. Fang Dingying has been studying in Japan for a long time and has long seen Japan's ambitions.
When Chiang Kai-shek proposed that "outside the country must first be at home," Fang Dingying was very disappointed and reminded Chiang Kai-shek to be careful of the Japanese, but Chiang Kai-shek took his words as the wind in his ears.
During the Central Plains War, Chiang Kai-shek's approach completely disappointed Fang Dingying, and he was finally so angry that he left his post and never commanded the war again.
In 1949, China finally achieved peace, and Fang Dingying's wish for many years was finally fulfilled, and he died in 1976, living for 88 years.
