The performance of domestic screen manufacturers in the market in recent years, consumers have seen it, whether it is the innovation level, or the production capacity level, are far ahead of competitors. Although in terms of product quality, there is still a gap between domestic manufacturers and established giants such as Samsung and LG, domestic manufacturers have never stopped the pace of technological upgrading. And from the results, more and more mobile phone giants have begun to use domestic screens on high-end flagships.
Among the many screen manufacturers, the most eye-catching manufacturer is BOE. It not only supplies screens for brands such as Xiaomi, OPPO, and Honor, but also successfully wins orders from Samsung and Apple. It is reported that part of the iPhone 13 screen is produced by BOE, from this point of view, the domestic display has conquered Apple, and the product quality can be seen.
It is worth mentioning that the iPhone 13 is not the only Apple order received by BOE.
According to the latest media reports, the third phase of the B12 factory in Chongqing is changing the application product, and the production line will produce a cutting 15-inch OLED display panel in the future, and the panel may eventually be applied to the future iPad.
In fact, the current maximum size of the iPad is only 12.9 inches, which does not match the size of the panel produced by BOE. However, as early as June 2021, the well-known journalist Mark Gurman revealed that Apple has plans to equip the iPad with a larger display.
In fact, after Apple made the decision to decentralize tablets on M-series chips, the upgrade of tablet size became inevitable. After all, in order not to waste the performance of the M series chips, Apple can only develop more productivity attributes of tablets. If you want to increase productivity, the premise is that the product must have a larger screen.
Of course, if Apple really launches a large-size tablet, it will be a big challenge for suppliers. As many people know, tablets are electronic products that are used more frequently, and the iPad, as a "productivity device", will be lit up more times a day than mobile phones. However, frequently lighting up the screen will greatly increase the probability of the screen burning.
The good news is that BOE foresaw the problem and prepared a plan. BOE applied a double-layer tandem structure on the B12 phase III, stacking two luminous layers on each screen, successfully extending the life of the screen.
In fact, LG has begun to ship single-layer and double-layer structure OLED displays, but LG's shipments are for automobile manufacturers.
And this also provides BOE with new ideas for development, the current new energy vehicle company market size is huge, if BOE uses this technology to land on the central control screen market, I believe that revenue and performance will increase significantly.
Of course, taking the Apple iPad order also has many benefits for BOE. "Apple certification" has a great value bonus for suppliers, and after entering the Apple supply chain, domestic manufacturer orders will come pouring in.
In addition, Apple's order itself will also bring huge benefits to supply chain manufacturers. At present, in the flat track, Apple is a well-deserved brother, and no company can give a large order at one time like Apple.
Importantly, if BOE is selected by Apple, then Apple engineers may enter BOE to help it improve product quality. Working with Apple, for the current BOE, Bai li is harmless.
According to the official financial report data, the total profit of BOE in the third quarter of 2021 exceeded 20 billion, which can be seen that BOE has fallen into a virtuous circle of technology-driven sales, sales bring profits, and profits promote technological upgrading.
In this context, it is only a matter of time before BOE screens are recognized by global customers.
