Green Olympics is the first of the four major Olympic concepts of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, and it is also a solemn commitment made by the Beijing Winter Olympic Games to the international community. As the seed player of new energy vehicles and the main force in the future, hydrogen fuel vehicles use hydrogen and oxygen for chemical reactions, and the only product in the driving process is water, so it can truly achieve zero pollution and zero emissions. Driven by the double carbon target, the world's first high-volume hydrogen fuel bus serving sports events will debut at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and is currently accelerating the "Green Winter Olympics" journey to plug in the "green Winter Olympics" with scientific and technological "wings".

Carbon emissions are much lower than those of conventional buses

According to the "China Electronic News" reporter, the batch of hydrogen fuel buses that will be put into use at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics is expected to have about 800 (the specific number is to be confirmed by the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee), which is the world's first large-scale hydrogen fuel bus to serve sports events. It is reported that this batch of hydrogen fuel buses will provide connection services between Zhangjiakou Chongli, Beijing Yanqing and Beijing Urban Winter Olympic venues, with a cruising range of more than 600 kilometers and a hydrogen refueling time of only 15 to 20 minutes.

As the "hydrogen-filled" hydrogen fuel bus gradually approaches, "zero carbon emissions" has become one of the most eye-catching labels for hydrogen fuel vehicles.

"Because of the main use of green hydrogen or blue hydrogen, the carbon emissions of hydrogen fuel buses are much lower than those of traditional buses, and zero pollution and zero emissions are achieved from the vehicle emission end." Liu Jihong, vice president of research and development of Beiqi Foton Ouhui Bus Division, told China Electronics News that hydrogen fuel vehicles transport hydrogen and oxygen into the fuel cell stack through pipelines and flow channels for chemical reaction, and the current required to drive the car is formed through continuous transfer of electrons, and the product of the whole process is only water, which can greatly reduce carbon emissions.

Foton Ouhui BJ6122 hydrogen fuel bus undertook part of the connection work in the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. In the case of this hydrogen-fueled bus, the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by the vehicle is about 57.86 kilograms per 100 kilometers. If each vehicle travels about 400 kilometers per day, the carbon emissions that can be reduced per hydrogen fuel bus are about 231.44 kilograms.

This batch of hydrogen fuel buses that will soon "show their fists" in the connection work is also equipped with the first "U degree" comprehensive thermal management technology in China. It is understood that the technology can recycle the "waste heat" generated by hydrogen fuel cells, providing energy support for interior heating and front windshield defrosting and fog removal. When the fuel cell power reaches 75%, full waste heat heating can be realized, which reduces the energy consumption of the whole vehicle by 7.6%, and further reduces the operating costs of hydrogen fuel buses.

The all-weather extreme cold power battery achieves low temperature start-up

A wisp of golden sunshine has finely coated the vast land with a layer of gold, but there is still a bit of cold in the wind of the Yanqing and Zhangjiakou competition areas of the Beijing Winter Olympics. In the extremely low temperature environment of snow, several hydrogen fuel buses did not show any "cold fear", but always showed full power and enthusiasm for the upcoming connection task.

Low temperature start has always been a hard indicator of vehicle performance. Winter temperatures in Yanqing and Zhangjiakou are very low, and hydrogen-fueled buses that undertake indirect work at the venues need to constantly shuttle back and forth in an extremely cold environment. Therefore, how to ensure that the vehicle "does not lie down" and "does not stop" under extremely low temperature conditions has become the key to successfully completing the connection task of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

The secret to the "cold challenge" is actually the vehicle battery. Liu Jihong told the "China Electronic News" reporter that the Ouhui hydrogen fuel bus represented by the BJ6122 hydrogen fuel bus uses an all-weather extremely cold power battery, which can enable the vehicle to achieve minus 30 degrees Celsius extreme cold low temperature start, minus 40 degrees extreme cold low temperature storage and automatic protection function of shutdown.

In the process of connecting and parking hydrogen fuel buses, the safety of hydrogen fuel vehicle batteries is also the focus of attention. In order to avoid potential risks, these hydrogen fuel buses specially use hydrogen-electric collision multi-coupling technology. According to the introduction, the technology can monitor the real-time status of hydrogen and electricity and ensure collision safety, covering high-pressure hydrogen storage cylinders, power batteries, fuel cells, drive motors, collision structure safety design and many other links, with multiple early warning functions, comprehensively escorting the safety of hydrogen fuel cell buses.

In the future, with the further improvement of the hydrogen energy industry chain, hydrogen fuel buses are expected to start from the "Winter Olympic Platform" and extend the application scenarios to more fields by virtue of the advantages of safety, comfort and low carbon.

"China Electronics News" reporter learned that after serving the Winter Olympics, hydrogen fuel buses will continue to provide a safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly travel experience for the masses through various passenger service provider systems such as Beijing bus and Zhangjiakou bus.

"Next, hydrogen fuel buses will further accelerate the pace of promotion and popularization, and gradually become the main choice for long-distance contact lines - suburban public transportation, and long-mileage - intercity public transportation buses." Liu Jihong told reporters.
