The Vision EQXX, a new Mercedes-Benz concept car, uses innovative interior materials to balance luxury interiors with natural environmental protection. Among the many eco-friendly interiors, its new door handle is made from BIOSTEEL fiber from AMSilk. This high-strength, certified vegan imitation silk fabric is made using AMSilk's proprietary biotechnology expertise. AMSilk is the world's first industrial supplier of vegan silk biopolymers that are 100% biodegradable, recyclable, renewable and zero waste.

This application is the first of its kind in the automotive industry. AMSilk's Biosteel provides a solution for the automotive industry to meet the industry's growing need to replace petroleum-based ingredients with natural bio-based materials.

Ulrich Scherbel, CEO of AMSilk, said: "We are very pleased to be working with Mercedes-Benz on the technology project VISION EQXX to provide sustainable interior design solutions through our best-in-class bio-based fibres.
