Some media also reported that the joint venture between Huawei and Volkswagen aims to provide solutions to the Volkswagen Group as a supplier. One of the ways of cooperation discussed between the two sides is "Volkswagen pays money to become the controlling party of the joint venture company, and Huawei mainly contributes technical IP (intellectual property rights)", and the technical IP provided by Huawei includes not only software technology, but also Huawei's chip IP.
After the news flowed out, Huawei immediately debunked the rumor that it was "not true", but the Volkswagen Group has not publicly responded to this matter.
Today, Volkswagen China CEO Feng Sihan responded to this matter for the first time in an interview, "Volkswagen and Huawei are indeed discussing, but there is no confirmable news at this stage, including the establishment of a joint venture between the two sides."
This response is a denial of the previous rumors, but it also reveals that Volkswagen and Huawei do have contact, and the possibility of cooperation between the two sides is not small.
In fact, as early as July 2018, Huawei and Audi signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in Berlin to jointly develop intelligent and connected vehicles and cooperate in the field of autonomous driving, and the comprehensive strategic cooperation between Audi and Huawei has also gone further.
The prototype of the Audi Q7 uses Huawei's MDC mobile data center for the operation of urban autonomous driving environments, and the car was displayed to the public during HUAWEI CONNECT 2018.
