The ruins of dongping kiln bear witness to the ancient Huizhou sea silk trade

Yu Xiaolun, a member of the CPPCC Municipal Committee, is the general manager of Huizhou Dongping Kiln Culture Communication Co., Ltd., the vice president of the Municipal New Stage Federation, and the president of the Municipal Arts and Crafts Industry Association.

According to its introduction, in order to achieve the overall protection and sustainable development of the Maritime Silk Road heritage, promote the Maritime Silk Road to be included in the World Heritage List, in November 2021, Huizhou officially joined the Alliance of Cities Applying for the Maritime Silk Road.

From the Tang Dynasty onwards, Huizhou's maritime trade flourished, giving birth to Huizhou export porcelain represented by Dongping Kiln and Baima Kiln, and the remains of these two ancient kiln sites are also important evidence of the ancient Huizhou Sea Silk Trade. The Maritime Silk Road, also known as the Maritime Ceramics Route, shows that ceramics play a pivotal role in the Maritime Silk Road.

Huizhou ceramics produced in Dongping kilns have been sold well overseas

Yu Xiaolun introduced that the porcelain industry in the Song Dynasty is the peak of porcelain history. Due to its strength, the Dongping Kiln of the Northern Song Dynasty of Huizhou also occupies the primary position of huizhou's thousand-year-old porcelain vein, and is now also an intangible cultural heritage protection project in Huicheng District.

"Huizhou Cultural Relics Chronicle" "Section 2 Ancient Production Relics", introducing the "Northern Song Dynasty Dongping Kiln": "The kiln site was discovered at the end of September 1976... More than 650 specimens of various styles such as porcelain and kiln tools were collected from the kiln site. Dongping kiln is a long slope class kiln, estimated to be about 32 meters long, provincial archaeologists according to the scale of the kiln estimates, each kiln can produce 50,000 pieces of porcelain at a time, three kilns can produce 150,000 pieces at a time, such as 10 times a year out of the kiln, a year can produce 1.5 million pieces. It is impossible to sell out locally, most of it is exported. ”

This is also a strong proof of the Hai Silk Trade. The "Maritime Silk Road" Lingnan important porcelain origin song Dynasty Huizhou gathered the Dongjiang River Basin shipbuilding, coinage, salt, porcelain and other handicraft industries, traffic east to Chaozhou and southern Fujian, northeast to Meizhou and Mingan. Its products are mainly exported to Southeast Asian countries.

Dongping kiln is one of the three major folk kilns in Lingnan. "The Historical Origin and Development of Foshan Shiwan Pottery" Yun: "In 1974 and 1975, the Guangdong Provincial Museum and other units went to the Xisha Islands twice to conduct archaeological surveys, and found that there were more than 30 places on the bottom of the Xisha Sea with a large number of ancient Chinese export porcelain... Among them, the ceramics of the Song Dynasty in Guangdong include Foshan Shiwan Kiln, Guangzhou Xicun Kiln and Huizhou Dongping Kiln, which shows that the ceramics of these kilns are all products sold abroad on the same day. It shows the leap-forward development of the porcelain industry in the Northern Song Dynasty of Guangdong and the grand situation of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. ”

As the origin of porcelain in the Song Dynasty, Huizhou Dongping Kiln became the "first kiln mouth" that Huizhou was proud of, and occupied an important position in the Lingnan ceramic industry chain and foreign trade sales.

Leaving the site empty cannot meet the needs of development

The Dongping Kiln Site is located at the southern end of the Guangshan Highway, on a hill in the center of Dongyaotou Village, Qiaoqiao, Huicheng District. At present, there is a "Huizhou Dongping Kiln" concrete arch and a monument erected by the "Announcement" of the cultural relics protection unit.

Due to the lack of reception conditions for visits, the Dongping kiln site is now only open to higher-level leaders and scholars and experts in the cultural and cultural system. Due to the great influence of dongping kiln in the outside world, coupled with the propaganda of the history and culture of the Guangdong Maritime Silk Road in recent years, the Yangjiang "Nanhai No. 1" Museum has been infected by the external display, not only a large number of citizens have taken advantage of the pleasure to visit, but many visitors from other places can only stand outside the wall for a long time and sigh, take a picture in front of the archway, and return with deep regret.

At present, huizhou city's display of dongping kiln ceramic achievements, only one exhibition room opened by the Huizhou museum, the folk display of the "Huizhou dongping kiln cultural park" in the "Huizhou ancient ceramic specimen exhibition hall" in the porcelain fragment specimens. This kind of display is far from meeting the current people's interest and enthusiasm for Dongping kiln, and citizens and tourists not only look forward to more relevant knowledge, but even those who have in-depth experience and systematic learning willingness are not few, but the development of Dongping kiln sites is still blank.

Rebuild the Eastern Ping Kiln of the Northern Song Dynasty and create an open platform for characteristic culture

Yu Xiaolun suggested that through the establishment of the Dongping Kiln Ruins Park, and on this basis, the Dongping Kiln Ceramic Culture Exhibition Hall and the Dongping Kiln Intangible Cultural Heritage Craftsman College should be set up in Qiaodong to create an open platform for characteristic traditional culture, making it another cultural living room in Huizhou City and another knowledge school for teenagers. At the same time, we will make up for the shortcomings and give full play to our advantages, and further consolidate and highlight the connotation of Huizhou as a national-level historical and cultural city.

He suggested that the Dongping Kiln Ruins Park be established to expand the site area on the basis of the existing protected area of about 3,000 square meters of slope, that is, the actual "kiln slag" accumulation layer. On the basis of expanding the area, the heritage park can be reshaped according to the connotation of the Dongping kiln in Huizhou in the Northern Song Dynasty. For example, it includes the porcelain workshop area, the porcelain blank drying area, the dragon kiln firing area, the porcelain storage and packaging area and the porcelain transportation dock area for layout and construction.

Established the Dongping Kiln Ceramic Culture Center. Within the scope of Qiaodong, the Northern Song Dynasty Dongping Kiln Ceramic Culture Center was set up to display specimens such as excavated porcelain and kiln tools, as well as Dongping kiln porcelain and the living conditions of Residents of Huizhou in the Song Dynasty, the display of modern Dongping kiln works, the role played by Dongping kiln porcelain in foreign trade, and the academic exchange and research results of Dongping kiln ceramic culture, in order to achieve the role of cultural promotion and dissemination.

Established Dongping Kiln Intangible Cultural Heritage Craftsman College. Dongping kiln is almost a highlight of the ceramic culture in the Dongjiang River Basin is indispensable in the history and culture of Huizhou, which is not only worth inheriting and learning, but also beneficial to the promotion of the local cultural tourism industry.

It is suggested that within the qiaodong street where the Dongping kiln site is located, a small and medium-sized craftsman college of intangible cultural heritage handicraft inheritance training and education should be established to educate, experience, display ceramic products, and academic exchanges of ceramics, that is, to explore the spirit of Huizhou craftsmen and to explore the artisan college of Dongping kiln ceramic craft that spreads the culture of Huizhou.
