This is the first temporary exhibition launched by the World Skills Museum, "Turning Soil into Gold - World Ceramic Skills Exhibition", which can not only feel the beauty of ancient and modern Chinese and foreign ceramics in multiple dimensions, but also dig deep into the "eighteen skills" behind the ceramics, and vividly tell the contemporary "renewal" >story of the "old tradition".

Together with more than 10 heavyweight cultural and museum units such as the Forbidden City, the award-winning works of the International Ceramics Exhibition were unveiled

The exhibition lasts for 3 months and is divided into three exhibition areas: "The Beauty of Ceramics", "The Technique of Ceramics" and "The New of Ceramics".

It is worth mentioning that this exhibition exhibits the award-winning works of the "Mino International Ceramics Festival", which is the world's largest and internationally recognized ceramic triennial.

It also exhibits ceramic works from different historical periods in China, such as Neolithic red pottery small three-legged bowls and black pottery three-legged double-series jars, Tang Sancai three-legged plates, ceramic works with different characteristics from the five famous kilns of the Song Dynasty, as well as porcelain products such as five-colored, doucai, enamel and pastel.

An art installation based on the "Mother Porcelain", a glazed vase that marks the pinnacle of ancient Chinese porcelain-making technology, stands in the center of the "Ceramic Technique" exhibition area.

Exhibits from the Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences are empowered by science and technology. For example, Tiangong-2 and Shenzhou-11 used comprehensive material experimental devices for astronauts to carry out research experiments in orbit and demonstrate the space exploration and application of new ceramic materials.

Among the three exhibition areas, the "Ceramic Technique" exhibition area accounts for half of the entire exhibition area and is the key area of this exhibition. Following the exhibition area, visitors can gain an in-depth understanding of the key processes of ceramic production. At the same time, in order to allow the audience to immerse themselves in the "ceramic skills", the exhibition site not only displays the raw materials, tools, and semi-finished products of the ceramic production process, but also leads the audience to quickly experience the pottery production process through interactive exhibits such as "pottery DIY".

In addition, from May 12, the temporary exhibition will be launched with public education activities, and the audience can further understand the ceramic skills through the experience of creative ceramic production skills, the skill master drawing stunt award, and the lecture of the research librarians of the Palace Museum.

Celebrity lectures, stunt awards, and 5.18 International Museum Day theme activities are wonderful

May 18 is the International Museum Day, and the WorldSkills Museum will hold the "Shine the Orient, Light Up the Future - 5.18 International Museum Day Theme Activity" on the 18th, and launch a series of activities such as the "Come to Ask the Master" lecture, the stunt award, the exhibition of youth science and technology innovation skills, and the skill experience workshop, leading the audience, especially the young people, to explore the mystery of skills and appreciate the charm of skill culture.

On the same day, the museum will also award plaques to the second batch of 14 WorldSkills Museum Alliance schools, including NYU Shanghai, Pinghe School, and Gezhi Junior High School, bringing the number of museum alliance schools to 22. Subsequently, the museum and the alliance schools will jointly organize a variety of public education activities, such as the "IDEA! Skilled Teenagers - World Skills Museum Youth Science and Technology Innovation Skills Exhibition", "Reading Labor Ingenuity, Casting New Talents of the Times" theme reading and sharing session, etc.

At the same time, the launching ceremony of the barista project of the 2024 Shanghai Vocational Skills Competition Monthly Theme Competition of "Coffee Plus - Increasing Skills and Promoting Employment" and the Barista Project (Yangpu Division) competition were held.

In addition, a series of interactive experiences such as big coffee lectures, skill experience workshops, and stunt awards will be held on the same day.
