On August 25, 1937, the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China issued an order to reorganize the main force of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army into the Eighth Route Army of the National Revolutionary Army.
In order to realize the nationwide War of Resistance, after the peaceful settlement of the "Xi'an Incident," the Communist Party of China held difficult negotiations with the Kuomintang authorities on issues such as the reorganization of the Red Army, and the Kuomintang authorities finally accepted the conditions for the reorganization of the Red Army.
The officers and men of the Eighth Route Army swore to march out, marched east to kill the enemy, and frequently won victories at Pingxingguan, Yanmenguan, Yangmingbao and other places, and the prestige of the Eighth Route Army resounded throughout the north and south of the great river.
