Hou Yongsheng was born in 1927 in a small village called Juqiao Village in Hebi City, Henan Province, and his family was very poor from an early age, and Hou Yongsheng also lived in great hardship as a child. After the Japanese invasion of China began in 1931, the life of Hou Yongsheng's family was even more difficult, and because of this, Hou Yongsheng as a child hated japanese soldiers very much.
By 1945, Japan had begun to retreat in China, and hou Yongsheng was already an 18-year-old boy who had already joined the army. On the eve of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, roughly in July 1945, Hou Yongsheng was already the leader of the Junxi guerrilla group.
At that time, they came to a village called Baisi Village, and the local comrades told them that there were Japanese soldiers guarding the west gate of the county town, so in the evening, Hou Yongsheng took two comrades to check the situation. As a result, when I arrived at the west gate of Xun County, I bumped head-on into a Japanese soldier riding a high-headed horse.
Hou Yongsheng didn't even think about it, and immediately shot at the person on the horse. The horse was startled by the gunshots and immediately ran back, scattering the 80 Or so Japanese soldiers who were not far behind, and by the time they caught up, Hou Yongsheng had already looted all the useful things on the Japanese soldiers and ran.
Among these booty was a Japanese saber that looked very sharp. They also probed the falsehood of the Japanese army in Xun County, which was considered to be a great achievement, so this saber was organized as a prize to Hou Yongsheng, who began to look at the knife and found that there was a name engraved on it, called "Sakamoto Yoshitaro".
Later, Hou Yongsheng fought bravely on the battlefield and made many meritorious achievements. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Hou Yongsheng returned to his hometown of Juqiao Village, and from then on, he "did not mention the courage of that year" and lived his life in peace and stability. But when someone finds him, he will still take out this knife and tell the people about his previous heroic deeds.
In this way, the reputation of Hou Yongsheng's knife spread overseas, and in 2001, japanese people came to ask Hou Yongsheng for a knife. Hou Yongsheng knew that this was the sword given to Sakamoto Yoshitaro by the Emperor of that year, and the level of craftsmanship itself was very high and expensive.
Coupled with the fact that the sword given by the emperor is rare and precious, the Japanese once offered 30 million yuan to recover the sword. But Hou Yongsheng refused, believing that the knife represented Japan's crime of aggression and was also a symbol of his painful and brilliant life, so he refused to sell it.
In 2014, Hou Yongsheng, a veteran who was already quite old, died of illness, and before leaving, he decided to give the knife to the state free of charge and display it in the museum, hoping that this knife could wake up the world, not forget the national shame, and continue to work hard.
