In 1925, Zhou Xiulian, a Native of Changsha, resolutely joined a women's organization, this year she was 18 years old, although the feudal family at that time was still widespread, but Zhou Xiulian's parents were also exposed to new ideas, which had a great impact on Zhou Xiulian's growth, so when the revolutionary horn sounded, Zhou Xiulian actively participated in it.
There is a strong reading atmosphere in Hunan, and many famous figures have emerged from here, such as Tan Sitong, one of the "Six Gentlemen of Wushu", Song Jiaoren, who is the "father of Chinese constitutionalism", Qiu Jin, Tang Qunying, Ge Jianhao, and others, one of the founders of the women's rights movement on the mainland.
It was precisely because of the influence of these ancestors that Zhou Xiulian embarked on the revolutionary road, and on the way to fight for equal rights for women, Zhou Xiulian met like-minded Yang Ping, who graduated from the Whampoa Military Academy and was then the company commander of the Kuomintang 25th Division.
In 1931, Zhou Xiulian and Yang Ping entered into marriage, after which Zhou Xiulian followed her husband to all parts of the country, Yang Ping went to the front, zhou Xiulian was organized into the logistics team, although the battlefield is not suitable for children and daughters, but because of the existence of each other, Zhou Xiulian and Yang Ping have hope in their hearts and support each other in the war years.
The love between them did not spend the romance under the moon before, to say the most romantic thing, that is, when Yang Ping went to the front line, he looked at Zhou Xiulian and smiled, Zhou Xiulian was diligently responsible for logistics, and looked forward to the safe return of her husband, Yang Ping fought bravely on the battlefield to kill the enemy, thinking about the country, but also thinking about the small family, to go back to see Zhou Xiulian alive.
But the battlefield was merciless, on June 20, 1943, the news of Comrade Yang Ping's death came, Zhou Xiulian's eyes were tearful, several fainting, the army held a beautiful memorial service for Yang Ping, promoted Yang Ping to major general, and then Zhou Xiulian ended her military career.
However, the war was not over, after the outbreak of the Battle of Changsha, all parts of Hunan were attacked by the Japanese army, and Zhou Xiulian had no time to pack up more things when she fled with her children, not to mention that everything about Yang Ping in the family was blown up, and even the home was destroyed in the artillery fire.
Zhou Xiulian has experienced many tribulations, life in the army, but also let Zhou Xiulian get used to the harsh living conditions, she survived strongly, and later met a nobleman, the other party let her go to Taiwan to hide, but Zhou Xiulian politely refused the other party's kindness.
Although it is not easy to carry a child alone, Zhou Xiulian still survived all the hardships, and then the Japanese were driven away, Zhou Xiulian married again, and the children slowly grew up, although Zhou Xiulian rarely talked about the past, but she still remembered Yang Ping in her heart.
Now Zhou Xiulian is also a hundred years old, but still alive, and with the help of volunteers, in 2016 found Yang Ping's photo, after 73 years, 109-year-old Zhou Xiulian saw Yang Ping's photo again, or can recognize at a glance, and tears wet eyes, but also let others move.
