In September 2021, archaeologists found through exploration and investigation that the area of Song LiuLing No. 2 Mausoleum exceeded 10,000 square meters, which was three times that of No. 1 Cemetery.

Li Huida, head of the Zhejiang Eastern Archaeological Base, head of the Song Liuling Archaeological Excavation Project, and associate researcher of the Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, told reporters that after archaeological excavations, it has been confirmed that the Song Liuling No. 2 Mausoleum is the Imperial Tomb Lower Palace, and in the south of the No. 2 Mausoleum, archaeologists continue to look for the corresponding Imperial Tomb Upper Palace, and archaeologists believe that this plot is related to the Imperial Tomb Upper Palace, and the side is related to the Empress Mausoleum. This judgment is based on the remains of existing archaeological finds and excavated artifacts. With the further advancement of archaeology, the situation in and around Cemetery No. 2 will be clearer.

Li Huida told reporters that since 2018, after the archaeological excavation of the Song Liuling No. 1 Cemetery began, the Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology joined hands with relevant parties to collect the remains of archaeological excavations, and refer to historical documents such as "Si Ling" and "Building French Style" and other historical documents and ancient construction examples and related research results, to carry out digital restoration of the Song Liu Ling Tombs, to provide a reference basis for the restoration of specific architectural forms, and to provide core data for the protection, utilization and display of the future Song Liu Ling Ruins Park.

At present, archaeologists use the excavation of the No. 1 Cemetery site to provide a basis for the combination of documents and physical objects, and conduct preliminary architectural restoration research on the No. 1 Cemetery, refining and analyzing architectural relics more systematically from different dimensions of plane and façade, enriching people's understanding of the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Tombs and Southern Song Dynasty architecture.

The Song Liu Ling is an important symbol of the Song Yun culture, and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage has included the Song Liu Ling in the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Protection and Utilization of Great Ruins", which has become the Shaoxing logo that continues the Chinese context.
