He once served as one of the founders of the Railway Guerrilla, a Class-A combat hero, but unfortunately defected to the enemy and ended up in a desolate end

What is history: it is the echo of the past to the future, the reflection of the future on the past. - Hugo

On March 18, 1938, the Japanese army occupied Zaozhuang in Shandong. In order to obtain information on the activities of the Japanese army in Zaozhuang, the Sulu People's Anti-Japanese Volunteer Brigade sent Hong Zhenhai and Wang Zhisheng to infiltrate Zaozhuang and establish a secret intelligence station in October 1938. In the autumn of 1939, Luo Ronghuan led part of the main force of the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army into Lunan, and the People's Anti-Japanese Volunteer Brigade was reorganized into the Sulu Detachment of the Eighth Route Army. The leaders of the detachment instructed: On the basis of continuing to do a good job in anti-Japanese intelligence work, we should prepare for the establishment of anti-Japanese armed forces. Soon, Hong Zhenhai secretly organized an anti-Japanese armed force with 11 participants, named Zaozhuang Railway Team. In February 1940, the Zaozhuang Railway Brigade was renamed the Lunan Railway Brigade; in July of the same year, the three railway teams were merged into the Lunan Railway Brigade.

Xu Guangtian was one of the earliest members of the Lunan Railway Guerrilla And was also a major member of the Railway Guerrilla Gang. He was resourceful and brave, serving as a squadron leader in a spear squadron for a long time, participating in overnight raids on foreign companies, flying cars with machine guns, destroying railways, blowing up bridges, and ticketing cars.

In the summer of 1943, the Shandong Military Region held a provincial battle hero and model conference, and Xu Guangtian was selected as a Class A combat hero. Xu Guangtian is the bravest to fight devils, but usually "his ideological and political performance is poor, among comrades, he is good at feelings, does not start from politics, often calculates personal gains and losses, and is a bit of personal heroism."

Some people recalled that you saw Xu Guangtian like a shy girl, but when the battle started, his eyes narrowed, and he was not at all soft at killing the little devil, and he was a well-known hero in the guerrilla army for killing the enemy.

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Zaozhuang established the Railway Administration. Liu Jinshan and Wang Zhisheng, the chief and vice captains of the railway guerrillas, both held leadership positions at the bureau level, while Xu Guangtian remained the squadron leader of the spear squadron. The superiors did this because the spear team had all the Japanese equipment, and the leader could not bear to dismantle it and let Xu Guangtian stay as the squadron leader. Xu Guangtian thought that Liu Jinshan was retaliating against him, otherwise, why were all the cadres promoted, but he was still the squadron leader? For this reason, Xu Guangtian was very dissatisfied with Liu Jinshan.

After discovering this problem, the Lunan Military Region held that there were loopholes in the previous consideration of cadre arrangements; in the past, Xu Guangtian was second only to deputy brigade commander in his post, Wang Zhisheng had been promoted to chairman of the railway trade union, and Xu Guangtian was still a company commander, and there was some disparity in his position. The Lunan Military Region immediately ordered Xu Guangtian to be transferred to the Military Region to study, and after the completion of the study, he would be appointed as the battalion commander of the Special Affairs Regiment of the Lunan Military Region. However, this order was late, and Xu Guangtian had already returned home angrily.

At that time, the situation was very tense, and the Kuomintang troops stationed near Xuzhou, under the strategy of a division in Lincheng, launched a large-scale attack on Lunan. The Zaozhuang party and government organs had to retreat temporarily. Xu Guangtian's hometown was in the middle of the enemy and us, and the Lunan Military Region considered that Xu Guangtian was a combat hero and that if something unexpected happened, it would cause a negative impact, so it sent Zheng Ti, the former deputy political commissar of the railway guerrillas, to rush to Xu Guangtian's hometown with a starry night and mobilize him to retreat with the troops. But at this time, Xu Guangtian was already a bad person, Zheng Ti did not find him, and his whereabouts were discovered by the enemy, so he took people back to the mountains.

Later, through the traitor's lead, the enemy brought Xu Guangtian to Lincheng and entertained him with a feast, hoping to use his influence to make him a secret agent company commander. Xu Guangtian agreed, but in fact the enemy was so uneasy about him as a "combat hero" that he was forced to leave after three months of work and sell pork for a living.

After liberation, Xu Guangtian was arrested by the public security department because he had defected to the enemy, and considering that he did not have any major evil deeds, he was only sentenced to two years in prison. During the three years of difficulty, Xu Guangtian died in poverty and illness.
