In April 1941, Chen Ruiting, commander of the 425th Regiment of the Kuomintang 92nd Army, led more than 1,000 officers and soldiers to revolt against Chiang Kai-shek's civil war policy and defected to the New Fourth Army.
Zhang Aiping, commander of the 9th Brigade of the Third Division of the New Fourth Army, immediately went to their garrison and held a welcome meeting attended by the masses.
However, at the meeting, Zhang Aiping carefully observed the mood of the rebel troops and thought that there were some problems with the troops, so she talked to Chen Ruiting alone, reminded him to pay attention to some officers, and explained to him:
"You should not stop for long on the way. Rush to the half-city of our brigade headquarters as soon as possible. Try to arrive one day. Behind me, the 27th Regiment sent a unit to escort it. ”
"Well, I'll try to get there one day."
The result? One day didn't arrive, two days didn't arrive, and the third day didn't arrive yet.
In the middle of the night after the third day, gunshots suddenly rang out from Chen Ruiting's garrison.
Chen Ruiting immediately got up from the bed, ready to inquire, as soon as he left the door, a bayonet stabbed him, he used his hand to open it, and asked loudly, "What are you going to do?" Before the words could be heard, another stab came, and he pulled away again, but then the other side stabbed two bayonets at the same time, and he could not dodge, and finally he was stabbed. He hurried back to his room, stabbed him in the back again, and fell to the ground. The Assassin thought he was dead and immediately ran away.
Chen Ruiting was actually not dead, and it was estimated that the enemy would come again, so he quickly wiped the blood from his abdomen on his face and lay upright on the ground. Sure enough, four or five more people came in and shined a flashlight on him, and one of them said, "Dead, let's go!" As he was leaving, another man fired another shot at him. Fortunately, bullets passed through.
Subsequently, several of Chen Ruiting's cronies arrived, and the New Fourth Army sent by Zhang Aiping also rushed over. Together, everyone rescued Chen Ruiting and sent him to the hospital.
It turned out that among the Chen Ruiting uprising troops, a political worker (equivalent to an instructor) and a company commander contacted more than 20 people to launch a mutiny. With the cooperation of regimental aide-de-camps, they also killed nine insurrectional activists and took more than a thousand troops with them.
Why did Chen Ruiting take the troops and walk for three days without walking?
It turned out that after Chen Ruiting led the uprising, they were warmly welcomed and warmly received by the anti-Japanese government and the masses from all walks of life along the way, and the welcome meetings, party parties, and condolence meetings were one after another.
After the founding of New China, Chen Ruiting has been working in the leading organ of the artillery of the People's Liberation Army, successively serving as chief of staff and deputy commander of the artillery, and was awarded the rank of major general in 1955.
