It was a great pity that Tang Taizong did not complete his ambition to destroy Goguryeo and died, and his son Tang Gaozong first joined forces with Silla to destroy Baekje, an important ally of Goguryeo, and also beat up the Japanese sailors who came to reinforce at the mouth of the Baekje River, burning four hundred Japanese ships, "the smoke was scorching, and the sea was red."
Isolated and helpless, Goguryeo was eventually destroyed under the powerful attack of the Tang army at the same time, both land and water.
