On the afternoon of January 4th, the first special exhibition of cultural relics unearthed in Husi Kiln - "Song Kiln Relics and Lake Si Fenghua, Wuhan Lake Si Kiln Site Group Excavated Cultural Relics and Specimens Exhibition" opened at the Wuhan Museum, and the representative works of the Husi kiln such as the national first-class cultural relics shadow blue glazed porcelain pillow and the blue glazed melon ridge porcelain pot met with the Wuhan audience.

At present, the cultural relics excavated from Husi Kiln are collected in Hubei Provincial Museum, Wuhan Museum, Wuhan Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Jiangxia District Museum and other cultural and museum units, and there are also a small number of folk collections.

Wang Ruihua, director of Wuhan Museum, introduced that the exhibition was sponsored by Wuhan Museum and Wuhan Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, and joined hands with Hubei Provincial Museum, Wuhan Jiangxia District Museum, Fairview Mountain Villa Culture and Art Village and Wuhan Great Song Wuchang Kiln Research Institute and other museums and non-governmental collection institutions, and many institutions took out the precious Collection of Lake Si Kiln, which is the largest display of Husi Kiln cultural relics since the discovery of the Husi Kiln Site in 1974.

The exhibition takes the cultural relics and artifact specimens excavated from Husi kiln as the cornerstone, and is divided into four units: "Pearl Reproduction", "Good Craftsman", "Small Family Jasper" and "Replay of Zhuhua", exhibiting 329 cultural relics and specimens (sets), including 9 national first-class cultural relics (sets), detailing the discovery process and archaeological work of the Husi porcelain kiln site group, the ceramic firing process of the Song Dynasty, the characteristics of Husi kiln products, and the protection and utilization of the Husi kiln site group in recent years.

The national first-class cultural relics blue glazed melon ridge porcelain jug is the representative work of Husi kiln. Unearthed in a Northern Song Dynasty tomb at Baiquan Farm in Wuhan's Dongxihu District, this pot is glazed with green glaze throughout, with a mellow glaze and a regular vessel, which is both a practical wine container and a beautiful ornament.

Another piece of shadow blue glazed porcelain pillow excavated in 1996 in Husi Town, Jiangxia District, also makes people feel the unique "human fireworks" given to porcelain by porcelain craftsmen in the Song Dynasty. This porcelain pillow is in the shape of a pavilion, the roof is a pillow surface, and the windows on the walls are tightly closed. Inside the pavilion, there are two people playing against each other, two people watching the game, 16 chess pieces are placed on the chessboard, and the pavilion is surrounded by green trees, and the artistic conception is elegant and pleasant. The porcelain pillow shape is unique, the texture is delicate, and the carving, plastic, skeletonization and other processes are integrated, which is a fine product in the Husi kiln porcelain.

Let the Lake Si Kiln "burn up" and "flourish"

For the first time, the exhibition sorts out and displays the Husi Kiln Site Group, a kiln site group with local characteristics in Wuhan, showing the appearance of the Song Dynasty porcelain handicraft industry in Wuhan and the wisdom and creativity of the Song Dynasty porcelain craftsmen.

Wang Ruihua said that the Wuhan Museum will display the fine works unearthed from the Husi kilns in the form of an exhibition for the first time, which not only allows the citizens of Wuhan to fully understand the historical development of the porcelain industry in Wuhan, but also a panoramic review and prospect of the archaeological excavations and conservation achievements of the Husi kilns.

He said, "In recent years, Wuhan has successfully built a number of characteristic museums and heritage parks, so that Panlong City 'dances' and Zhongshan ships 'float'. Nowadays, it is the turn of Husi Kiln, it is necessary to attract the attention of all parties, so that husi kiln, the business card of Wuhan culture, will not be extinguished and passed on, so that Husi kiln can 'burn up' and 'flourish'! ”

In order to display the cultural relics of the Husi kiln, the Wuhan Museum has transformed the original treasure hall and reproduced the firing scene of the Husi kiln, so that the audience can more intuitively understand the process and process of firing the porcelain kiln in the Song Dynasty. In the selection of exhibits, in addition to displaying the complete pieces excavated from the Husi kiln site group, the curators also selected a large number of specimen porcelain, as well as several non-hereditary inheritors of Husi kilns in Jiangxia District, and research institutions used the Husi kiln porcelain making technology to reproduce and produce Husi kiln cultural and creative porcelain, as completely presenting the characteristics of Husi kiln porcelain in glaze color, instrument type, decorative techniques and other aspects as complete as possible, so that the audience can have an intuitive, sincere and rich understanding of the Wuhan Husi porcelain kiln site group.

The exhibition will last until May 2022, and the public can get close to the Husi kiln and feel the unique charm of Wuhan's ancient kiln site and porcelain industry.
