This is a folk song that has been circulating in the Jiangxia District of Wuhan City. It is said that there are many porcelain kilns here. However, the literature on porcelain making in Hubei is vague.
So, is there an ancient porcelain kiln in Hubei? In the "Pearl of the Folk Kiln, Lake Si Fenghua - Wuhan Husi Porcelain Kiln Site Group Exhibition" being launched by the Wuhan Museum, we have found the answer.

In 1974, archaeologists found a kiln with a large scale, wide distribution range and long duration in Xiaci Bay, JiangxiaHusi Commune, Wuhan, and the largest scale of Song Dynasty porcelain in Hubei, which was named "Husi Porcelain Kiln Site Group".
This discovery fills the gap in the history of ancient porcelain in Hubei.

In the "Wuhan Husi Porcelain Kiln Site Group Exhibition" of the Wuhan Museum, we learned that the emergence of the Husi Porcelain Kiln Site Group is inseparable from the unique geographical environment there. Its central hill contains both rich porcelain clay and dense trees, providing sufficient raw materials and fuel for firing porcelain. At the same time, Liangzi Lake is the second largest lake in Hubei, with a vast water area and abundant water resources, which makes the production water for porcelain manufacturing and the domestic water for kiln workers have been fully guaranteed.
The water transportation network centered on the Yangtze River - Liangzi Lake is more accessible in all directions, convenient shipping, and provides natural convenience for the output and sales of products. The Husi porcelain kiln site group was founded in the late Tang Dynasty and continued until the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, of which the Song Dynasty was the mainstay.
