The subjective and objective evaluation of the 2022 China Pickup Truck Annual Model Selection has ended, and various results are in the statistics. Among the participating models this year, there are three pickup trucks prepared for the play market, namely the Great Wall Cannon Off-Road Pickup Everest Edition, the Zhengzhou Nissan Ruiqi 6 Crossover Edition and the JAC Humpty Dumpty Bobcat Edition. So since it is a model specially prepared for off-road players, and it also happens to have an off-road test site of the China Automobile Research Institute, it can be described as a good time and place, and we must test the strongest off-road mode of these three models.
Ability to get out of trouble
One of the off-road performances is the ability to get out of trouble, which represents the pickup truck's self-help ability when encountering difficulties, and the main test is the four-wheel drive performance of the car and the control ability after each wheel slips. Three pulleys have been set up in the China Automobile Research Site, which can be placed on the bottom of the three wheels of the pickup truck, and only one wheel is retained to the ground to verify the ability of each car to get out of trouble.
Climbing ability
The ability to climb the slope not only tests the tire performance of the pickup truck, but also tests the power level of the whole vehicle. A number of ramps have been set up in the China Automobile Research Site, and the 30° longitudinal slope is objectively evaluated and selected. Since we wanted to test the ultimate performance of the whole vehicle, we chose the most difficult 35° longitudinal slope in the field for testing. This ramp is different from the ramp in the field state, and the cement pavement is used to rule out some slippery possibilities and test the theoretical limit climbing ability of the vehicle.
1. Great Wall Cannon off-road pickup everest version
The Great Wall Gun off-road pickup everest version that participated in the annual model selection is a limited edition car, so it will be different from the mass production version in terms of configuration, but the overall difference is not large. On the basis of the off-road pickup, the car adopts a unique 8848 gray paint to highlight the commemorative significance. In terms of hardware, the Everest Edition of the Great Wall Gun is equipped with a 2.0T gasoline engine, with a rated power of 140kW/4000-5500rpm, a maximum torque of 360N·m/1800-3600rpm, and the transmission part matches an 8-speed automatic transmission. In terms of four-wheel drive mode, the car is equipped with a time-sharing four-wheel drive system, including two-wheel drive, high-speed four-wheel drive and low-speed four-wheel drive three modes, and with front and rear differential locks, the overall configuration is very powerful.
In the test of getting out of trouble, the Great Wall Gun off-road pickup truck Everest Edition uses a low-speed four-wheel drive mode, and locks the front and rear differential locks, at which time the body stability system of the car automatically maintains the closed state to ensure the continuous output of power, which can be said to be the "strongest state" of the four-wheel drive model. In this state of the test of escape from the trap, whether it is a single front wheel or a single rear wheel has adhesion, the Great Wall Gun off-road pickup everest version is stable and successfully escaped from the pulley group.
In the same mode, the Everest version of the 35° ramp climbing ability was tested, and because the limited edition car used Bailuchi AT tires, it had a very good grip and climbed to the top of the slope easily and steadily. And when climbing at a low speed, the car will also display an invisible area in front of the front of the car, so that the driver can understand the external environment and improve safety.
2. Zhengzhou Nissan Ruiqi 6 crossover version
The Ruiqi 6 Traversal Edition was officially launched after the annual selection, and our test should also be its "first" "extreme off-road". The car was upgraded again on the basis of the Off-Road Edition of the Ruiqi 6, adding a lot of more targeted accessories, such as Giti all-terrain tires with a size of 255/70R16, black wading hoses to improve air intake quality, steel front and rear bumpers, alloy pedals, winchs, etc., especially the addition of Eaton mechanical self-locking differential locks to the rear axle to improve the ability to get out of trouble. In terms of power, the Ruiqi 6 crossover version is equipped with a 2.3T diesel engine codenamed M9T, with a maximum power of 120kW and a maximum torque of 380N·m; the participating models are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and also have a time-sharing four-wheel drive system.
In the test of getting out of trouble, the Ruiqi 6 crossover version adopts a low-speed four-wheel drive mode, and because the rear axle is a mechanical self-locking differential lock, it does not require manual control. In the state of a single rear wheel landing, because the two rear wheels have different speeds (one side turns the other side does not turn), after reaching a certain speed difference, eaton differential lock automatically locks, and the landing wheel gets the power to drive the vehicle out of trouble. In the state where a single front wheel lands, or due to the action of the vehicle's limiting system, the left front wheel is powered to help the vehicle get out of trouble. Therefore, the Ruiqi 6 crossover version has also successfully escaped from the difficulty in the escape test.
In the 35 ° climb test, due to the blessing of the all-terrain tires and the characteristics of the diesel engine with low speed and high torque, the Ruiqi 6 crossover version also performed relatively steadily during the climbing process, and the gear position would not automatically upshift during the climbing process, which was satisfactory and finally successfully reached the top.
3. JAC Humpty Dumpty Bobcat Edition
Humtu is a model launched by JAC pickup truck this year, and the Bobcat version that participated in the competition is also an original modified customized version of the model. The vehicle was fitted with a wide range of off-road kits, including wading hoses, front and rear guards, side pedals, 265/70R17 Giti AT100 full-road tires, and a winch trailer rope integrated at the front. More notably, the car was also equipped with 22 segments of adjustable nitrogen shock absorption, which is better among several off-road models. The participating models are equipped with a 2.0T diesel engine with a maximum power of 110 kW/3600 rpm and a maximum torque of 360 N·m/1800-2400 rpm; the transmission part matches a 6-speed manual transmission, which is also equipped with a time-sharing four-wheel drive system. However, unlike the previous two models, the Hummel Bobcat version is not equipped with a differential lock.
In the escape test, the Hummingbird version also adopts a low-speed four-wheel drive mode, manual 1st gear, in the case of a single rear wheel landing, because the front axle slides sideways in the pulley group, there is a certain adhesion when it reaches the edge of the pulley, so the whole vehicle is out of trouble; in the theoretical state, due to the lack of help from the rear axle differential lock, this state should not be able to get out of trouble. And the single front wheel landed on the ground without getting out of trouble.
In the process of 35 ° climbing, the low-speed four-wheel drive + manual 1st gear is also adopted, and the JAC Humpty Dumpty Bobcat edition also reaches the top. However, perhaps due to the tire, or it may be that the gearbox 1 gear ratio is not large enough, the vehicle will have a certain degree of shaking during the climbing process, resulting in a less smooth attitude during the climbing process.
Summary: As pickup trucks are gradually accepted by household consumers, more and more playful properties will definitely be launched in the future, and the biggest feature of these pickups is that the ability to get out of trouble and climb the slope is stronger than that of ordinary household pickups. There are already a lot of three off-road style pickups in this year's annual selection, and we have also tested them for targeted off-road ability this time. Although we try to maintain an objective and strict state, but there are certainly inevitable external factors interfering in it, so these results are only used as a reference in the process of using the car, the specific off-road ability is also related to the configuration of the vehicle, the local environment, according to the ability to make you play happily and safely in the off-road process.
