Dog sledding or horse-drawn sledding has a long history and was once a mode of transportation in the winter in the countries surrounding the Arctic Circle. However, as a niche event, dog sledding and horse-drawn sledding have never entered the Winter Olympics as official competitions.
However, although dog sledding has not become an official competition in the Winter Olympics, it has entered the Winter Olympics as a performance project.

At the 1932 Winter Olympics on Lake Placid, dog sledding was a performance at the time. According to the rules of the race, athletes sit on the sled, and six sled dogs pull the sled to complete the track of more than 40 kilometers. If a dog is injured during the race, the athlete can reach the finish line with the injured dog on the sled. At that Winter Olympics, a Canadian athlete won the championship.
