IT House reported on Jan. 3 that ASML Holding NV said on Monday that a fire broke out at a factory in Berlin, Germany, adding that no one was injured and that it was too early to assess the impact on its operations, according to Reuters.

ASML is a key equipment supplier to all major computer chip manufacturers and is currently operating at full capacity due to a global semiconductor shortage. Any shipping delays will affect customers who are trying to expand capacity.
IT House learned that the factory, formerly Known as Berliner Glas, made components for ASML's lithography system, which was used to make circuits for computer chips. The equipment produced by Berliner Glas includes "wafer tables, mesh chucks and mirror blocks," ASML said in a statement.
"At this time, it is too early to make any statement as to whether the loss or event will have any impact on this year's output program," ASML said, adding that it will take several days to assess the loss and will provide the market with the most up-to-date information as soon as possible.
ASMA ASML acquired one of its former suppliers, Berliner Glas, in 2020 for an undisclosed amount. The company's sales were 230 million euros.
The company's shares had been up about 1 percent until the news was announced, after which it fell by about 0.3 percent to 704.4 euros.
