Under the pillow wind of Yang Guifei again and again, An Lushan gradually gained power, became the emissary of the three northern regions, and held military power. A few years later, An Lushan, who had been planning for a long time, joined forces with Shi Siming to march south and directly attack the capital city of Chang'an. Tang Xuanzong, who was obsessed with sound, suddenly woke up and fled with Yang Yuhuan in a hurry, planning to hide in Western Shu, which was "difficult to go to the Qingtian".
What Xuanzong did not expect was that the soldiers he led were already very dissatisfied with his practice of favoring Yang Guifei and reusing Guifei's father and brother, and they already had a deep resentment. When the people reached Ma Songyi, the army mutinied and demanded that the emperor kill Yang Guifei or refuse to continue advancing. In desperation, Emperor Xuanzong had to tearfully order Yang Guifei to die.
However, many experts and scholars believe that Yang Guifei did not die in Ma Songyi, and that it was only Guifei's personal maid who was hanged at that time, while the real Yang Guifei was secretly escorted south by Chen Xuanli, the leader of the Forbidden Army, who pitied Xiang Xiang and cherished jade, and fled from the sea near present-day Shanghai, and drifted to Kuzu in Hisaya Town, Japan, where she died. The Old Book of Tang records that after chen Xuanli, the commander of the forbidden army, mutinied and killed the father and son of Yang Guozhong, the chancellor, he then asked Emperor Xuanzong to give the culprit Yang Guifei the death to avoid the trouble. Therefore, Emperor Xuanzong ordered the eunuch Gao Lishi to take Yang Guifei to the Buddhist hall and hang herself. Therefore, many people believe that Yang Guifei should have died in the Buddhist hall of Ma Songyi.
After unremitting research by historians, it was finally found that Yang Guifei did not flee east or hang herself as rumored, but died tragically in the rebellion. In some Tang poems that describe the mutiny of Ma Songyi, the modifier "blood" often appears. If Yang Guifei really hanged herself or fled, she should not have such a cruel word.
Yang Guifei was favored by the Sixth Palace before her death, and her family was also in power because of her. Such an ancient beauty, but finally died tragically under the knife of a soldier, such an ending can not help but be lamentable.
