When the title was awarded in 1955, a total of 55 founding generals were produced, all of whom made important contributions to the victory of the Chinese revolution and the founding of New China, and each person's experience was legendary. One of them was demoted three times in a row, from commander to regimental commander, but amazingly, a month later he became commander. So who is this person? He was the founding general Song Shilun. Song Shilun was a native of Liling, Hunan, graduated from Huangpu No. 5, and after the outbreak of the Agrarian Revolutionary War, he returned to his hometown and, after arduous efforts, pulled up a guerrilla force to fight against the enemy in The area of Liuyang and Liling.
Soon after, Song Shilun led this guerrilla group to join the Red 6th Army, and after entering the Central Soviet Region, he successively served as chief of staff of the Red 35th Army, commander of the Independent 3rd Division, chief of staff of the Red 21st Army, chief of staff of the Western Army of the Central Soviet Region, and participated in the first to fifth anti-"encirclement and suppression" operations, and made many military achievements. After the Red Army arrived in northern Shaanxi, Song Shilun successively served as the commander of the Red 39th Army and the Red 28th Army, during which he led his troops to participate in the Eastern Expedition, the Western Expedition and the Battle of Shan Castle.
Soon after the Outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out in full swing, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party began to cooperate in the war against Japan, and the First, Second, and Fourth Fronts of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and the Northwest Red Army were reorganized into the Eighth Route Army of the National Revolutionary Army. Since Chiang Kai-shek only gave the Eighth Route Army three regular divisions, many cadres had to be demoted to use. Song Shilun was demoted three ranks in a row, from the commander of the army to the commander of the 716th Regiment of the 358th Brigade of the 120th Division. But just a month later, Song Shilun became the commander, what is going on?
At that time, the total strength of the Eighth Route Army was only tens of thousands of people, not only lacked heavy weapons, but also had limited ammunition, and each soldier could only get a few rounds of ammunition. In order to better attack the enemy and strengthen the troops, the 120th Division formed the Yanbei Detachment, and Song Shi took turns as the commander of the detachment, and was ordered to go to the Yanmen Pass area to open up an anti-Japanese base area. On the way, the Yanbei detachment encountered the 2nd Army of Nationalist cavalry retreating south.
The Nationalist army was very puzzled by the actions of the Yanbei detachment, and some officers and men said: "You are not numerous, your equipment is rudimentary, our cavalry cannot run, you infantry are driving up to the top of something, and if you go, you will be sent to death." Commander He Zhuguo said to Song Shilun: "The Japanese are not easy to deal with, and our shells on their tanks have no effect." I almost lost my life. However, Song Shilun did not believe in evil, resolutely led the team to the north, used flexible and mobile guerrilla tactics to repel the enemy's attacks many times, and successfully gained a foothold in Yanbei.
From the end of 1937 to the middle of 1938, the Yanbei detachment fought more than a hundred battles with the Japanese Kou west of the Tongpu Line and east of the Gyeongsui Line, annihilating more than 2,000 Japanese troops. While destroying the enemy, the Yanbei detachment was also greatly developed, from 5 companies to 3 battalions, 1 cavalry brigade and 8 advancing teams, with a total strength of more than 2500 people. Soon after, Song Shi took the turn to be the commander of the 4th Column of the Eighth Route Army, and led his troops into eastern Jidong, opening up a new situation in the anti-Japanese resistance in eastern Hebei. After Japan's surrender, Song Shilun participated in the War of Liberation and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and made new contributions, and was awarded the rank of general in 1955.
