Blockade operations are often absolutely hard battles, and in order to build a "copper wall and an iron wall, the troops who take on the task of blocking the attack must have a tenacious work style and a fearless spirit of sacrifice. In the years of the revolutionary war, many heroic units of our army have emerged that are known for their stubborn resistance, but if we talk about the best of them, I am afraid that it is not the ten columns led by Huaye Song Shilun, who is praised as "the platoon does not move, it must be the ten columns."
It is worth mentioning that there is a different voice on the Internet, saying that this ten columns may be the ten columns of the famous Dongye general Liang Xingchu, yes, the Ten Columns of Dongye have also fought the famous Montenegro Blockade Battle, but compared with the Huaye Ten Columns of the Song Dynasty, the Ten Columns of the East Wild are still slightly "amateur" in terms of resistance warfare, after all, they were initially troops who started with pioneering agriculture, and the Ten Columns of the Song Dynasty Can almost be called "Blocking Professional Households".
In the Liberation War, this unit participated in four key and fierce blockade battles, one was the Liangshan Blockade Battle in the Battle of Menglianggu, and the Tenth Column blocked the Fifth Army, the head of Chiang Kai-shek's five most elite main forces, with great losses;

In these several blockade battles, all of the ten columns were facing Chiang Kai-shek's most elite ace troops, especially Qiu Qingquan's Fifth Army, formerly known as Chiang Kai-shek's earliest mechanized unit, which achieved the "Kunlun Pass Victory" during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and later entered Burma to fight, received comprehensive American equipment and training, and was the closest to the US army in terms of equipment and combat style, especially known for its fierce artillery fire, and even the Japanese army was afraid of three points.
Qiu Qingquan
And Qiu Qingquan, like our army general Wang Jinshan, has the nickname of "madman", and is a fierce character who fights and does not die. It was such a Qiu madman who even had to pay some attention to the ferocious Japanese army, but the ten columns of Song Shilun successfully blocked him three times in a row!
The Fifth Army of Chiang Kai-shek's Army during the Liberation War was different from the period of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and not only increased its strength, but also equipped with American armaments and equipment, equipped with advanced American howitzer battalions, equipped with mountain artillery battalions, and even lower-level troops were also equipped with mortars. Moreover, the Fifth Army of Chiang Kai-shek's Army also had the coordinated operation of military tanks and fighting vehicles, the artillery fire was very fierce in the sky and there was also air force support, and at the critical juncture of the Battle of Eastern Henan, Zhou Zhirou, commander of the Chiang Kai-shek Army's air force, even personally flew to the battlefield to direct the bombing.

General of the Song Dynasty
Song Shilun was born in 1907 in Liling, Hunan. Since childhood, he was victorious and aggressive, and after joining the Red Army, he fought bravely and drunk, much like another good wine general, Xu Shiyou, and later commanded the Ninth Corps in the Song Dynasty, and because of his good wine, he was also jokingly called the "Wine Corps".
Song Shilun's personality is uninhibited, and he also has a bit of "bandit spirit"; during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he carried out operations behind enemy lines in Jiaodong, Song Shilun did not wear military uniforms, always shaved his brain and polished, carried a box cannon around his waist, and even wore a gun spike with tassels on the handle! Coupled with always full of wine, rude speech, live off the image of a "mountain king". Because of this, although Song Shilun fought bravely, there were some problems in his style and image, and it was inevitable that he would be criticized by his superiors.
Of course, the things that made the chairman angry were not these small problems, but two things that happened at that time that were enough to affect the outcome of the war. One is that in August 1947, the Tenth Column, under the pursuit of the Fifth Army, hurriedly crossed the Yellow River north, resulting in poor organization and the loss of thousands of troops, the chairman was very angry, and wanted to trace the responsibility of Song Shilun, but was saved by Chen Yi and Su Yu on the grounds that "the responsible person needs to be ascertained".
The second time was during the Battle of Jinan, Huaye Suyu still hoped that the ten columns would serve as a reinforcement task, but Song Shilun was annoyed, and at the meeting, he rushed to Su Yu's top, saying that he only allowed others to eat meat all day, and the ten columns chewed hard bones, which was unfair! Most of the ten columns are shandong disciples, and many of them are still natives of Jinan, and when they returned to their hometowns this time, the officers and men of the ten columns unanimously and strongly demanded to take on the main offensive task and earn face in front of their hometowns.
The Battle of Jinan was an unprecedented fierce battle in our army, and originally the chairman and Su Yu were very worried that they would not be able to fight in a short period of time and would fall into a stalemate, while the enemy's hundreds of thousands of support troops were looking at the tiger from the side, so it was extremely important to select a powerful reinforcement force.
