Born in 1931, Luo Shengjiao joined the People's Liberation Army at the age of 18 and followed the troops to suppress bandits in western Hunan Province. After the outbreak of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, he followed the troops into the Korean War and served as a reconnaissance company directly under the 141st Division.
On January 2, 1952, North Korean teenager Choe Young and a few friends came to skate on the Kakunuma River, and in the process of chasing each other, Choe Ying accidentally fell and broke the ice beneath her, suddenly falling into an ice cave nearly 3 meters deep. The three North Korean teenagers who were fighting with Choi Ying were momentarily helpless and burst into tears. The cry alarmed Luo Shengjiao, who was practicing bomb throwing nearby, and he immediately rushed to this side, although he could not understand Korean, but when he saw the gestures of the three North Korean teenagers and the cracked ice, he understood everything.
Winter in North Korea was exceptionally cold, when the temperature reached more than minus 20 degrees, but Luo Shengjiao did not hesitate for a moment, he took off his cotton coat, jumped deep into the cold and bone-deep river, and dived underwater to find Choe Ying. In the bone-chilling ice water, Luo Shengjiao sank into the bottom of the water twice in a row, touched Cui Ying, and forcefully lifted him out of the water several times, but the ice layer around the ice cave was too thin to withstand Cui Ying's weight, and he fell into the water again. At this time, Luo Shengjiao was already frozen and trembling, and his physical strength was about to be exhausted. But he still dived into the water again with amazing perseverance, desperately exerting his last strength and pushing Cui Ying out of the water with his head and shoulders.
At this time, Song Zhiyun, a hairdresser of the reconnaissance company who heard the noise, dragged a wooden telephone pole over, and Cui Ying hugged the telephone pole and was pulled ashore. But when Song Zhiyun returned to prepare to save The Luo Sheng Sect again, he found that the exhausted Luo Sheng Sect had been washed under the thick ice by the current, and the good son of the Chinese People, Luo Shengjiao, sacrificed his precious life to save a North Korean teenager he never knew, and was only 21 years old at the time of his death. Afterwards, the people of Cui Ying's village came to the 141st Division together to ask for credit for Luo Shengjiao.
A eldest lady named Yuan Shannu took the initiative to sacrifice her grave. The old man said: "This cemetery was originally prepared for me, but now I want to give it to Comrade Luo, who is no different from my son." Another bearded North Korean grandfather said to Master Ye Jianmin with tears: "Comrade Luo sacrificed to save our children, please give us his body, we will bury him according to the most solemn funeral in North Korea!" In the end, the Luo Sheng Sect was buried in the Buddha's Body Cave Mountain.
The headquarters of the Volunteer Army posthumously awarded Luo Shengjiao special merit and awarded him the honorary title of "Model of Loving the People of the First Class". The Democratic People's Republic of Korea awarded The Order of the National Flag of the First Class and the Order of Honor of the First Class of Soldiers of the LuoSheng Sect. In order to commemorate the Luosheng Sect, the Quysumuma River where he dedicated his life was renamed "Luoshengjiao River", Choe Ying's hometown of Ishidali was renamed "Luoshengjiao Village", the Buddha Body Cave Mountain where he was buried was renamed "Luoshengjiao Mountain", and a Roshengjiao Memorial Pavilion and a Luoshengjiao Monument were built on the mountain, on which the inscription of Kim Il-sung, chairman of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, was engraved: "The internationalist spirit of the Rasang martyrs will coexist with the Korean people forever."
On June 1, 1954, Choe Ying followed the North Korean delegation to Xinhua County, The hometown of Luo Shengjiao, and personally expressed her gratitude to Luo Shengjiao's father, and that night Choe Ying slept with Luo Shengjiao's father. The next day, when they parted, the Xian delegation and Cui Ying gave some commemorative gifts to Luo Dad and Luo Mama, and Luo Mama also gave Cui Ying the gifts she had carefully prepared. Choe Young grew up and enlisted in the army, quickly becoming a platoon leader in the Korean People's Army, and is now said to be a senior commander.
