In fact, Zhou Baozhong, another banner leader of the Northeast Anti-Japanese League, is not from the northeast, but from Yunnan, and his real name is not Zhou Baozhong.
Zhou Baozhong was born in Dali, Yunnan in 1902, his original name was Xi Liyuan, he was admitted to the Yunnan Daowu Hall, and was the younger disciple of Zhu Laozong and Ye Jianying, and was known as the "Iron Lion General".
In the National Revolutionary Army, Xi Liyuan was promoted all the way to the deputy commander of the 18th Division of the 6th Army, and the glory and wealth were at his fingertips, but Xi Liyuan resolutely chose to join the Communist Party of China and was sent to work in the northeast.
Zhou Enlai suggested that he change his name for the safety of him and his family, and Xi Liyuan, because he admired Zhou Enlai very much, simply took "Zhou" as his surname and took "defending China" as his mission, and named him "Zhou Baozhong".
After arriving in the northeast, Zhou Baozhong served as the secretary of the Military Commission of the Manchurian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the chief of the general staff of the Chinese National Salvation Army, and raised the anti-Japanese banner in the northeast, gradually becoming famous, especially because of an injury, which made Zhou Baozhong's name spread throughout the northeast.
In October 1932, in order to fight against the Japanese, the National Salvation Army was divided into five roads and three special detachments to attack Ning'an County, Heilongjiang, and Zhou Baozhong, who was also the commander of the Second Einsatzgruppen, rushed to the head of the city with a temporarily formed death squad, but was unexpectedly hit in the left leg by a stray bullet.
At that time, the war was urgent, and Zhou Baozhong did not retreat, continued to grit his teeth, and limped forward. Until the end of the battle, Zhou Baozhong finally couldn't hold on and fell to the ground.
Everyone was ready to operate on him, but the medical conditions of the troops were too poor, and there was no anesthetic, so how to do the operation? At this time, Zhou Baozhong said: "There are ready-made knives, what are you afraid of?" The knife digs the flesh, the pincer clamps the bullet, I can stand it! ”
At that time, there were only knives in the army, and the pliers were still borrowed from the local villager's home, because the mouth of the pliers was too big to reach into the wound, the doctor was very embarrassed, and Zhou Baozhong said impatiently: "What are you afraid of?" Dig the wound bigger with a knife, and the pliers will go in? ”
The doctor was still hesitating, and Zhou Baozhong shouted, "Move! "The doctor had the courage to dig the wound open.
After the bullet was taken out, Zhou Baozhong looked at the wound and found that there was still some rotten flesh, so he said to the doctor: "Your operation is not finished, and the rotten meat must also be cut off." ”
Everyone couldn't bear to look at the side anymore, some timid warriors sneaked out, even the doctor's hand was shaking, but Zhou Baozhong was talking and laughing freely, and never cried out in pain.
After the operation was finally over, everyone said with admiration: "Before watching the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, I thought that Guan Gong scraping the bones to cure poison was a rendition, but now I know that it is true, and the chief of staff of Zhou is really Guan Gong reincarnated!" ”
Zhou Baozhong smiled calmly and said, "This kind of thing can be done as long as there is a firm revolutionary conviction." ”
The story of Zhou Baozhong not playing anesthesia to cut flesh and take bullets soon spread in the northeast, and everyone admired him so much that he threw himself to the ground, and some people also wrote a poem: "The real hero of scraping bones and taking bullets is better than Guan Yunchang at that time." ”
Even the Japanese Kwantung Army and various bandits knew that Zhou Baozhong was a "contemporary Guan Gong", respected and feared him, and tried every means to capture him alive.
At the end of 1937, Zhou Baozhong, commander-in-chief of the 2nd Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army, took 6 subordinates and braved the storm and snow to go to the headquarters of the 5th Army. To get to the 5th Army, you must pass through a small hill called the Wasteland, and after the Desert, it is not far from the military headquarters.
When everyone arrived at the wasteland, a few people suddenly appeared and asked if the visitor was Commander Zhou, and we were the people of the 5th Army, who had come to greet Commander Zhou.
One of his subordinates was not vigilant, and casually admitted that Zhou Baozhong felt that it was not right, and immediately answered the word that Commander Zhou was behind him and would arrive immediately.
After the dialogue, Zhou Baozhong determined that the gang was a fake 5th Army and wanted to capture them alive.
At that time, in order to capture the anti-Japanese generals of our army, the Kwantung Army offered a heavy bounty to many people. 100,000 oceans!
This is only the beginning, and then the Japanese have raised the amount of rewards, not to mention the heads, whoever can cut one or two meats in the weekly guarantee will be rewarded with one or two gold! General Zhou Baozhong is one meter eight tall, tall and big, let's calculate how much gold it can be worth!
It can be said that Zhou Baozhong is a moving "vault", and it is no wonder that all kinds of bandits want to arrest him.
Sure enough, after Zhou Baozhong and the others climbed over a hill, they were surrounded by a group of Japanese troops. Zhou Baozhong was not in danger, saw that there was a small road next to him, and shouted: "Rush out separately!" After saying that, before the Japanese army could return to their senses, Zhou Baozhong had already rushed to the path on horseback.
However, the reaction speed of the Japanese army is also very fast, Zhou Baozhong did not run far, he was chased by the Japanese army, Zhou Baozhong saw that he could not run away for a while, he simply jumped off his horse and hid in a hidden place to fight with the Japanese army.
At this critical moment, the 5th Army heard the sound of gunfire and sent people to the rescue, and Zhou Baozhong escaped.
In the Northeast Anti-Japanese Alliance, Zhou Baozhong, Along with Yang Jingyu, Zhao Shangzhi, and Wang Detai, were all important leaders, but the next three were all killed in the battle, leaving only Zhou Baozhong, a banner figure, and Chairman Mao once praised: "Comrade Baozhong wrote poems that can be sung and wept in the fourteen-year struggle to resist Japan and save the country in the northeast. ”
On the eve of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, Zhou Baozhong came to Beijing and met Chairman Mao for the first time, and Chairman Mao was also very happy, introducing himself to everyone: "Our national hero has come!" ”
When the title was awarded in 1955, with the status and merit of Zhou Baozhong, it was enough to award the general, if you consider the "hill" of the Northeast Anti-Japanese League, the marshal can also be considered, but in the end Zhou Baozhong not only did not have the rank of marshal and general, but even the general, lieutenant general, and major general were not.

Of course, Zhou Baozhong's revolutionary merits cannot be forgotten, and he received three first-class medals, which are honors that even many founding generals did not have.
After transferring to the local government, Zhou Baozhong served as vice chairman of Yunnan Province, president of Yunnan University, and dean of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, and died of illness on February 22, 1964, at the age of 62.
