The reason is that the Model 3's rear trunk cover may wear out the rear camera's wiring harness when it is switched on and off, which may cause the rear camera to malfunction over time, such as the rear view image cannot be displayed.
The recall applies to Model 3 models manufactured between July 15, 2017 and September 30, 2020.
The recall measure is that the Tesla service center will inspect and install guide protectors and new wiring harnesses for car owners free of charge as needed. After February 18, 2022, the relevant owners will receive recall notification letters one after another.
In addition, Tesla also issued a recall notice for the Model S.
In the Model S sedan produced in 2014-2021, the latch assembly of the front trunk may not be aligned, resulting in the front hatch secondary latch not being combined, which may cause the front cover of the Model S to open unexpectedly, thus obstructing the driver's view.
The recall involves 119,000 Model S models.
If Tesla deems it necessary to deal with it through inspection, it will eliminate the safety hazard by repositioning the latch. The recall will also be notified to the owner by letter.
The above two recalls occurred in the United States, and Tesla recently launched a similar recall in the Chinese market.
