Ding Qiusheng had already heard about the name of Member Mao, and now that he saw Member Mao for the first time, he was also very happy in his heart; Chairman Mao talked about many revolutionary matters, and Ding Qiusheng was deeply affected; he decided to join the Red Army to fight the world for the poor.
When the troops set off, Ding Qiusheng hid from his mother, on the grounds of working in the mine, followed the team to leave, what he did not expect was that he and his mother became yongqiao when he left, in 1944, his mother died, at that time, due to too busy work, he had not been able to go home to go home to go to the grave for his mother, in 1955, the general wrote an article recalling his mother, which became an eternal memorial.
On the eve of the Long March in 1934, he was appointed as the officer of the Democratic Movement of the Red Star Column of the Central Military Commission, and since then, he and the central leaders have had many opportunities for face-to-face contact.
Chairman Mao looked at Ding Qiusheng's left arm, which was not very flexible, and he asked, "When did you get injured on your left hand?" "I was wounded in the Battle of Guangchang, the artery in my left arm was broken, and at that time, the wound was bleeding a lot, and later President Fu Lianhui personally operated on me, and many soldiers transfused blood for me to save my life."

Hearing Ding Qiusheng's story, Chairman Mao smiled and said: "Your life is great, and our Red Army's life is also great, and if the enemy has it in the future, we will also have it." ”
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Ding Qiusheng was very eager to go to the front line to kill the devils, saying that as a Chinese, especially as a soldier, he must go to the front line to fight against the Japanese invading army and personally kill several Japanese soldiers.
However, his superiors did not give him this opportunity, and his superiors appointed him as the political commissar of the Central Military Commission's engineering school; in the face of this appointment, Ding Qiusheng seemed to be very incomprehensible, and he resolutely refused to go to the engineering school, and Tan Zheng, who was then deputy director of the General Political Department of the Central Military Commission, found him: "You will be punished for disobeying the order like this." Ding Qiusheng said that he would rather be punished than go.
When Chairman Mao learned of this, he was very angry: "The army is disciplined, and it is necessary to manage the army strictly, and it is even stricter to manage cadres." Tan Zheng said: "The chairman knows Ding Qiusheng, so shouldn't he be punished?" The chairman said: "The more staff around you, the more familiar the more strict the personnel." ”
In this way, Ding Qiusheng was punished with a warning within the party, and at the same time, his appointment was revoked, and later Ding Qiusheng gradually realized his mistake, and the production of the rear was also very important, and in 1942, Ding Qiusheng was appointed as the director of the political department of the 1st Brigade of the 115th Division, and he realized his wish to go to the front.
After that, on the battlefield, Ding Qiusheng fought many victorious battles, successively serving as the political commissar of the division, the political commissar of the column, the political commissar of the 22nd Army, and in 1955, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant general.
Ding Qiusheng was later appointed as the political commissar of the North Sea Fleet, in order to do a good job in army building, Ding Qiusheng made great efforts, unconsciously, he accumulated fatigue, in 1962 at a meeting, he suddenly fell ill with a heart attack, had to be hospitalized.
In 1994, Ding Qiusheng asked his wife to take 10,000 yuan and donate it to the "Hope Project" in his hometown, which he said was a veteran soldier's little heart for his hometown.
In 1995, the general died at the age of 82.
