Tesla is currently recalling more than 475,000 vehicles due to increased risk of accidents due to technical flaws, including faults involving the Model 3's rearview camera and the Model S's trunk latch failure, CNN reported on December 31.

Tesla's technical problems are frequent, recalling 475,000 vehicles, equivalent to the total number of global deliveries last year

According to Tesla's annual report, the massive recall is almost equivalent to Tesla's total global deliveries last year, with a total of fewer than 500,000 cars delivered in 2020.

All Model 3 vehicles produced between 2017 and 2020 (356309 cars in total) are subject to recall. The problem is a cable that, over time, may detach after wear, hindering the transmission of the rearview camera.

A large number of Model S cars are also being recalled, and the risk of driving is greatly increased due to the fact that the front trunk latch may cause the bonnet to open unexpectedly. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 119009 vehicle of this type had such a malfunction.

One of the reports said that while a Tesla Model S was in motion, its hood suddenly opened, and Tesla began investigating similar issues in January 2021. Another report said the company began investigating the camera issue in June 2021 after Tesla had noticed that cable consumption at its service center was excessive and there was a problematic "potential trend."

The recall comes after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigated Tesla's "Passenger Game" feature, which allows motorists to play video games on touchscreens while the car is moving. Tesla said last week that after a preliminary evaluation of the game's feature, it is now only available during parking hours.

The government is also investigating at least 11 tesla accidents related to autopilot and other self-driving features. The crashes injured 17 people and killed 1.

On Thursday, Tesla shares fell 1.1 percent in post-opening trading, but then rebounded, and its shares have risen about 54 percent this year.

Tesla has not commented on the recall at this time.
