The son of Heavenly Chosen died young: Xiao Tong, the Prince of Zhaoming, was ultimately doomed

There are many turbulent times in Chinese history, in addition to the Spring and Autumn Warring States, the two Jin Dynasties and the Southern and Northern Dynasties are also familiar to us. Among the four southern dynasties that belonged to the Southern Dynasty, the most powerful people were Liu Song and Xiao Liang! Among them, Xiao Yan, the founder of Xiao Liang, has been passed down to this day because of his deep belief in Buddhism, and the Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu's "Jiangnan Chun" also mentioned:

Four hundred and eighty temples in the south, how many buildings in the smoke and rain.

These two verses exhaust the absurdity of Xiao Yan's extensive construction of temples because of his worship of The Buddha.

But in addition to Xiao Yan's absurd things of worshiping Buddha, as the founding prince of Xiao Liang, he also worked hard! From the second year of Yongyuan to the army against Xiao Qi's last emperor Xiao Baojuan, to the second year of Zhongxing accepting Xiao Baorong's throne as emperor, in just two years to establish the great Southern Liang Empire, it can not be said that it is not heroic.

More importantly, in the process of his military uprising, he gave birth to his eldest son Xiao Tong, which can be described as a double happiness at the door. Moreover, after Xiao Tong was born, Xiao Yan succeeded in raising an army, so that the civil and military officials at that time all believed that Xiao Tong was destined for heaven, and Xiao Yan should inherit the throne after a hundred years. On the one hand, Xiao Yan valued him very much because he was old and had children, on the other hand, he also felt that this son's arrival added a lot of luck to himself. Therefore, in November of the first year of the Tianjian and the year of the successful start of the army, Xiao Tong, who was less than one year old at the time, was made crown prince, and he was the prince of Zhaoming.

In this way, Prince Zhaoming began his magnificent life. From the time he can remember, his father Emperor Wu of Liang had taken his education into the forefront, making him not like the princes in history who had gone to lawlessness because of doting, on the contrary! He was very sensible, grateful, and extremely compassionate, and he was already familiar with the great righteousness of the "Filial Piety Sutra" at the age of several years, and the Heavenly Prison had taught this book in public for eight years. Book of Liang. Book VIII, Book II, also records:

Born intelligent, the prince was received the "Filial Piety Sutra" and "Analects" at the age of three, and read the Five Classics at the age of five, and was able to recite them. In May of the fifth year, he began to live in the Eastern Palace. The prince is benevolent and filial, self-extricating from the palace, and Constant Thought is not happy. Gao Zuzhi knew that every five days of a dynasty, most of them would stay in Yongfu Province, or five days and three days would be returned to the palace. In September of the eighth year, he preached the "Filial Piety Sutra" at the Shou'an Temple, and did his best to understand the great righteousness.

This documentary record will jump the image of Prince Zhaoming's wisdom on the paper!

After this, Prince Zhaoming showed his ability and character as a qualified crown prince from all aspects, and from the time he watched the trial when he was twelve years old, he already knew how to analyze right and wrong, and he knew that the criminals had extenuating circumstances and could learn from them from a light haircut. At the same time, it is precisely because of his benevolent and filial piety that he was desperate and his diet was ruined during the long period of his mother's death in the ordinary seven years, and won praise from the government and the public.

However, it was precisely because of his benevolent and filial piety and good talent that he and his father Emperor Xiao Yan of Liangwu gradually became bitter, especially in the ordinary seven-year wax goose prayer.

The Biography of Prince Zhaoming of Nanshi Liangwu Emperor's Sons restores the beginning and end of the matter for us:

"In the beginning, Ding Gui's concubine Xue, the prince sent people to seek a good cemetery, and he would cut the grass, and there were land sellers who asked for the city because of the eunuch Yu San, and if he got three million, he would be allowed to have a million with it. Emperor Wu of the Three Secret Qi, the land that Prince Yan had acquired was not now acquired by Emperor Ji, and the emperor was jealous of the last years, so he ordered the city to be. After the burial, there is a Tomb of the Taoist Shantu, and the cloud 'is not good for the eldest son, if it is disgusted or can be extended'. It is the firstborn on the side of the tomb where the wax goose and all things are buried. There were palace overseers Bao Miaozhi and Wei Ya, who were initially loved by the prince, and Mi Zhi saw that he was neglectful of Ya, and Emperor Wu of Miqi said: "Ya is tired of praying for the prince." 'Di Mi dispatched to dig, and the goose and other things were obtained. Panic, will be exhausted. Xu Mian's advice was stopped, so he only cursed the Daoist priests, and the crown prince was finally ashamed of this, so his heirs did not stand. ”

From this, we know that the cause of this incident was that the cemetery of his mother Concubine Ding Gui was unfavorable to the eldest son (Xiao Tong), and then Xiao Tong buried wax geese and other things in his cemetery to pray to the ghosts and gods, and finally was informed that Emperor Liangwu knew about this matter, causing Emperor Liangwu to be angry, twisting and turning, and decided to pursue this matter to the end, but because of Xu Mian's insistence and advice, he finally only killed the Taoist priest and gave up, but it also led to the gap between Emperor Liangwu and Prince Zhaoming.

This incident made Prince Zhaoming depressed for a period of time until his death!

In fact, we are thinking about it today: with prince Zhaoming's talent, benevolence, filial piety, obsessed with landscapes and rivers, and indifferent to fame and fortune, will he do these things because his mother's cemetery is not conducive to him? Moreover, this matter is only recorded in the "History of the South", "Book of Liang", "Book of Wei" and other historical books do not mention a word, which is really incredible! But because there is no wind or waves in anything, and there is always a reason for the estrangement, even if the authenticity of this matter has yet to be examined, it is still an important event that regards him as a father and son.

In short, no matter what, Emperor Wu of Liang and Prince Zhaoming had already given birth to a gap, and the days of father and son licking and kissing were gone forever. Only five years later, Prince Zhaoming died of falling into the water after swimming in the pond, and shi Chinese New Year's Eve.

Book of Liang. Book VIII, Book II, also describes in detail the scene at the time of his death:

In March of the third year, I fell ill. Fearing that the ancestors were worried, they asked questions and wrote to themselves. And a little bit of hesitation, left and right want to enlighten, still not allowed, "How the cloud makes the supreme know that I am so evil", because he whimpered. In April, the time Chinese New Year's Eve one. Gao Zuxing East Palace, weeping and mourning. Edicts are crowned with a crown. Shōjo Shōmei. May Gengyin, buried in the Mausoleum of Tranquility.

Before dying, he still thought about others, but unfortunately he could not fight fate in the end.

One of the most accomplished and accomplished princes in the history of the Southern and Northern Dynasties and even in ancient Chinese history died young.

After the death of Prince Zhaoming, Emperor Wu of Liang became even more corrupt: he built a Buddhist temple in Guangdong, and even became a monk three times, spending huge sums of money to redeem himself, which indirectly led to the outbreak of Hou Jing's rebellion and the destruction of Southern Liang. Emperor Wu of Liang and his people were also starved to death after Hou Jing invaded Jiankang, which made people sigh!

However, there was also a hint of comfort under the tragedy: first after his death, Emperor Wu of Liang sealed his son Dajun to comfort his heart; then in the first year of Tianzheng, his grandson Xiao Dong was made a puppet by Hou Jingli and posthumously named Prince Zhaoming as Emperor Zhaoming. Then, in the first year of Dading, his son Xiao Qin established Western Liang and posthumously honored Xiao as Emperor Zhaoming, with the temple name Gaozong.

Throughout Xiao Tong's life, in addition to his literary achievements, he was more benevolent and filial and talented, and he knew things clearly from memory, understood gratitude, and was extremely sympathetic, but unfortunately he died young before he succeeded to the throne, and if he ascended the throne, there was a high probability of prolonging the country! At that time, the Northern Wei Dynasty suffered a six-town uprising, and its national strength declined, which added a glimmer of possibility to its unification of the world. Coupled with his noble qualities and unforgettable wisdom of loving the people like a son, there is a great possibility of unifying and creating a rule in the world. But history has no if, the history books will only leave cold words, for the cause and effect cycle behind the history books, political plots, warm pictures can only be extended, to reverie, so as to learn from.
