In the seventeenth year of Shunzhi, the new county commander of Wu County, Suzhou, ordered Ren Weichu to force the people to pay taxes with harsh punishments, and killed a commoner, and Ren Weichu also stole and sold official rice from ChangpingCang, making the people of Wu County miserable.
Jin Shengsi and a few local talents were very sympathetic to the plight of the villagers, so in early March of the following year, they gathered at the Confucius Temple with more than 100 scholars to express their anger by mourning the death of the Shunzhi Emperor.
Jin Shengsi wrote a "revealing post" to Zhu Guozhi, the governor of Jiangsu, accusing Ren Weichu of his crimes, but Zhu Guozhi shielded Ren Weichu, and he not only arrested eleven scholars, but also bit Back Jin Shengsi, saying that he advocated chaos and tax resistance, alarming the spirit of the former emperor.
The imperial court had intended to frighten the scholars in Jiangnan, so it took this opportunity to order the arrest of Jin Shengsi and others and the beheading of all of them to capital punishment, which is the famous "Weeping Temple Case" in history, together with the "Tonghai Case" and the "Jiangnan Song Cancellation Case", collectively known as the "Three Major Cases of Jiangnan".
In the Weeping Temple case, Jin Shengsi was arrested and imprisoned, and will soon be beheaded. According to legend, after Jin Shengsi was put in prison, his mentality was still very good, and he was in the mood to tease the jailer.
One day, the jailer brought food to Jin Shengsi on time, Jin Shengsi ate a few bites and then put down his chopsticks, he waved a guard, and God mysteriously said to the jailer: "Come with your ears, I have something to tell!" ”
The jailer knew that Jin Shengsi was this person, and when he heard Jin Shengsi call him over, he also thought that Jin Shengsi would leave him with some heirloom treasure or earth-shattering big secret, who knew that Jin Shengsi finally just pointed to the food brought by the jailer and said: "Peanuts and dried beans were eaten together, and they actually ate the taste of walnuts, and now that they have learned this trick, they will have no regrets even if they die in the future!" ”
It is said that this sentence was the last sentence of Jin Shengsi's record, and soon after that, Jin Shengsi was escorted to the execution ground for execution.
On the execution ground, the executioner raised his knife and fell, and Jin Sheng sighed and the corpse was separated. At this time, the executioner found that two small balls of paper had fallen from Jin Shengsi's ears. Out of instinctive curiosity, the executioner bent down to pick up the paper ball, and opened it doubtfully, only to see that two paper balls had a word written on each of them, one was the word "good" and the other was the word "pain", which together was "good pain".
The world did not expect that Jin Shengsi would actually have a sense of humor before his death, but this was also completely in line with his debauchery and freedom-loving personality, which was unexpected and reasonable.
