Jiang Yonghui joined the revolution relatively late, enlisted in the army in 1933, and became a party member even later until 1935. In the Red Army, he served as a correspondent in the International Division of the Young Communists led by Xiao Hua, and later became a cadet and inspector of the Security Bureau. After 2 years of enlistment, he served as deputy commissioner of the regiment, special officer of the regiment and division, and commissioner of the regimental direct brigade.
During the Red Army period, he did not often fight in front-line combat units.
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he changed from inspector to battalion instructor, officially joined the front-line combat units, fought many battles, and was promoted to regimental political commissar and director of regimental political department. Later, in the reorganization of the troops, many commanders in the Shandong Military Region were demoted to one level, and he served as a battalion instructor, battalion commander, and later became the regimental commander.
During the liberation period, he went to the northeast with most of the Shandong Military Region to fight, and served as the commander of the first column of the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army, first serving under the commander of the column, Wan Yi, and later replacing the commander of the first column with Li Tianyou, who was promoted all the way to the posts of deputy division and division commander.
In 1949, Li Tianyou left the 38th Army, that is, the previous column, Liang Xingchu served as the commander of the army, and he also became the chief of staff and deputy commander of the 38th Army.
After liberation, he went to Korea with Liang Xingchu and made a remarkable achievement.
After returning to China, he was transferred to the post of commander of the army, under the jurisdiction of the Shenyang Military Region, and later to the deputy chief of staff of the Shenyang Military Region, the chief of staff of the Yang Military Region, and the deputy commander of the Shenyang Military Region.
He served as deputy commander of the Shenyang Military Region for 15 years, and then succeeded Yang Chengwu as commander of the Fuzhou Military Region in 1983, he served in Fuzhou for 2 years, and in 1985 the military region was abolished, and he also left.
After retirement, he did not stay in Fuzhou to cultivate, but returned to Shenyang where he worked and fought for decades, which was not only a matter of habit, but perhaps because his women's relatives, friends, and old friends were there.
