The Battle of Wanjialing took place from September 28 to October 10, 1938, and lasted 12 days. The Japanese 106th Division was dealt a devastating blow by our army, and our army annihilated more than 10,000 enemy troops and captured more than 100 Japanese troops. At that time, the enemy's corpses were all over the wanjialing, and the number of abandoned weapons was also quite large.

On December 13, 1937, the capital of the Nationalist government, Nanjing, was captured by the Japanese army, and the Nationalist government announced that the capital would be moved to Chongqing. However, before moving to Chongqing, most of the country's political parties, cultural institutions, and military commission organs gathered in Wuhan, which is the thoroughfare of nine provinces. Wuhan has also become a temporary capital.
In order to cause our army to surrender as soon as possible, the Japanese army set its sights on Wuhan, the new ruling center of Chiang Kai-shek's regime. As soon as the target was released, the Japanese army gathered troops to start action, and finally in July 1938, 400,000 troops, more than 300 aircraft of various types, and more than 20 ships were mobilized to prepare to capture Wuhan.
In the face of the enemy's provocations, Chiang Kai-shek will not yield. Chiang Kai-shek became the commander-in-chief of the Wuhan Defense War, re-designated the whole country into nine theaters, and issued the "Guidelines and Guiding Points for the Battle of Wuhan". In the face of the enemy's prepared attack, our army is already prepared, and the northern Ganbei area is the outskirts of Wuhan, which is also the only way for the Japanese army to enter Wuhan from the west on the south bank of the Yangtze River.
At that time, in the Wanjialing area, our army was garrisoned by corps, and the terrain was heavy and forested, the terrain was extremely complex, and the mountain roads were rugged. However, the enemy army was very light, and the Japanese 106th Division directly attacked alone. Under the command of the famous anti-Japanese general Xue Yue, our army cleverly set up a "pocket array" to annihilate more than 10,000 people of the Japanese 106th Division regiment that entered Wanjialing.
In the end, our army won a complete victory in this battle, but in the history of the Japanese army's army, it became a "century-old shame." At that time, at the last moment, the commander of the 106th Division was also wounded by our army. He led the remaining nearly 100 people into hiding in the cave, originally planning to commit suicide and not to fall into the hands of our army.
