Vietnam's Customs Online reported on December 21 that under the background of the serious impact of the epidemic on the Vietnamese automobile market, the import volume of vietnamese original cars and auto parts is still increasing significantly. Among them, the import of original cars from China increased by 194% year-on-year.
In the past month, 15,356 original vehicles of all types were imported, worth US$340 million. Vietnam's original imported cars mainly come from three markets: Thailand (8224 units), Indonesia (4130 units) and China (2206 units). The number of imported cars from these three markets reached 14,560, accounting for 95% of the total number of original cars imported from Vietnam.
Overall, before this year, imports of various types of original vehicles reached 144971 units, an increase of 56.7% year-on-year; of which, 101193 cars with 9 seats or less increased by 47.9%,; and 30,996 commercial vehicles, an increase of 71.4%.
Similarly, Vietnam's import of auto parts to assemble vehicles in China is also very strong.
According to preliminary statistics from the General Administration of Customs of Vietnam, Vietnam imported auto parts and accessories of US$398 million in November, compared with US$364 million in the previous month, an increase of 9.3% month-on-month. Overall, in the first 11 months of this year, Vietnam's auto parts imports reached US$4.47 billion, an increase of 28.6%, a net increase of US$995 million.
