In ancient times, did Emperor Yao really give zen to Emperor Shun?

In the ancient period of Our country, when there was no feudal dynasty, the Chinese nation still existed in the form of tribes. At that time, the leader of the tribe was not like the later father and son, but had a way that was highly respected by later generations - Zen Rang.

The so-called Zen Concession is the so-called "virtuous person who dwells in it" in ancient times, and the ruler selects the most capable person in the whole country and gives up his position to that person. The founder of this system, or the first person we know to implement this system, was Emperor Yao.

Emperor Yao, a famous saint in ancient China, passed on his position to Emperor Shun in his old age. Emperor Shun became the ruler and continued to lead the Chinese people to life.

This system can be said to have been strongly respected by posterity, because in ancient times, although the system of father-son transmission was very strict, everyone hoped to rule the world with a Ming Emperor. And the father passes on to the son, and if it is not done well, it will be passed on to the bear child.

However, the matter of Emperor Yao's Zen Rang occurred in ancient times, and the record is also very incomplete, is this statement really reliable?

In ancient times, did Emperor Yao really give zen to Emperor Shun?

In fact, many people have raised objections to this, and Xiaosheng also feels some of these small problems. Today, let's discuss it.

According to the Records of History, Emperor Shun was a very good man, he lost his mother at a young age, and his father 瞽叟 (瞽, 瞍, blind also, used two blind names to name, which is likely to be a malicious name given to him by posterity) married a stepmother and gave birth to a boy named Elephant. The new family of three is very dissatisfied with Shun's existence and calculates every day how to kill him.

One day, Shu and Xiang lied that the roof was broken, so they asked Shun to fix it. As soon as Shun climbed onto the roof, the two withdrew the ladder, hoping to make Shun starve to death or risk jumping down and falling to his death. However, Shun already knew that he used the air resistance of the large cloak to make the most primitive parachute, jump off the roof, and be safe.

After jumping down, Shun did not settle accounts with his father and brother, but when nothing happened, he was very filial.

After Emperor Yao heard about this, he felt that Shun was very good and had the potential to be a successor. In order to examine Shun's character, he married two daughters (Emperor E and Lady Ying) to Shun.

The two daughters were very beautiful and aroused the covetousness of elephants.

In ancient times, did Emperor Yao really give zen to Emperor Shun?

One day, Shu and Xiang said that the well in the house was broken, and asked Shun to go down and check it. As soon as Shun got out of the well, the two of them blocked the wellhead, and Elephant couldn't wait to find the two sisters-in-law. Unexpectedly, Shun once again prepared in advance, prepared a tunnel in the well, and finally escaped. When I got home, I honored the old man as if nothing had happened.

When Emperor Yao heard this, he was even happier and finally decided to let Shun succeed him as ruler.

The story is interesting to say, but it doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

First of all, if Zhen Shuo and Xiang were really dissatisfied with Shun, so that they both withdrew the ladder and sealed the manhole cover, what is the difference between directly taking advantage of Shun's sleep and stabbing him to death?

Secondly, how could Shun be so divine that he could predict how his father's brother would harm himself? Even if the parachute made of the cloak is a clever move, digging a hole in the well is a bit too mysterious, right?

Third, to be honest, in such a family, anyone's psychology is very likely to be deformed. Even great sages could not have such moral cultivation at a young age. Shun had been treated in this way until he was at least 20 years old, and before that, his family could not have established a good value for him, so it was unlikely that such an environment would raise a saint.

Fourth, if Emperor Yao really wanted to investigate Shun, he didn't necessarily have to use his daughter to investigate, right? Even if you want to investigate, can you use 2 daughters to investigate (although it is actually possible)?

In ancient times, did Emperor Yao really give zen to Emperor Shun?

Xiao Sheng deduced that the real history was probably tampered with by the victor Emperor Shun. In such a tyrannical family, Shun is likely to become a mob (modern medicine also has relevant research, believing that crime may also have a genetic factor), he overthrew the rule of Emperor Yao, occupied Emperor Yao's daughter, and ruled the tribe. As for the methods used by Emperor Shun and Xiang to kill Emperor Shun, it is not clear that Emperor Shun retaliated against them (this one is pure speculation).

Emperor Shun's tyranny was not without complete evidence, and in the famous prehistoric Flood, Emperor Shun killed him due to the inability of The Dragon to control the water (of course, whether this is tyranny or not is also to be discussed). Then, Emperor Shun asked Dayu to cure the water. Dayu succeeded in ruling the water, Emperor Shun gave the throne to Dayu, and dayu's son succeeded to the throne after Dayu's death, opening up a system of father-son transmission.

In this history, there may also be another possibility: Emperor Shun was tyrannical and killed Dayu's father, who overthrew Emperor Shun's rule in order to take revenge, and then passed the throne to his son before his death. In order to show that Dayu was a holy king, Emperor Shun could not be overthrown, so at that time everyone declared that Emperor Shun had given the throne to Dayu. The zen throne is generally done by the Saint Emperor, so emperor Shun is rendered as an image of a Saint King.

Of course, all this is just speculation.

Having said all this, Xiaosheng just wants to say: When reading ancient history, or other history, remember that history is written by the victors. However, the winners are usually not complete nonsense. Therefore, in the historical story, we must have a pair of bright eyes to see what kind of truth is behind the history recorded by historians with spring and autumn brushwork.
