So, what is the pattern of China's 5G market?
A few days ago, the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology released the "5G Mobile Phone Report for the Third Quarter of 2021", the highest market share of China's 5G market in the third quarter of this year is Huawei, accounting for 30.7%, vivo ranks second with a market share of 16.1%, OPPO, Apple, and Xiaomi rank third to fifth, with a market share of 14.6%, 12.5% and 10.5% respectively. This was followed by Glory (9.7%), Realme (2.7%), OnePlus (1.1%) and Samsung (0.9%).
Compared with the market share ranking of the global 5G market, it can be said that it is very different, the world's first Apple only ranks fourth in China, while the domestic 5G mobile phone market is still the world of domestic mobile phones, and the three manufacturers with the highest market share are from China.
The most surprising thing is undoubtedly Huawei. In today's environment, most people have not been able to think that Huawei can win the first, after all, starting from the P50 series, Huawei's 5G mobile phone business is almost interrupted, and can only sell 4G mobile phones, and other mobile phone manufacturers are fiercely exerting efforts during huawei's absence, especially Apple, with the hot sales of the iPhone 13 series, also sat on the throne of the first domestic mobile phone manufacturer in October and November. However, in the current Chinese 5G mobile phone market, Huawei is still pushing Apple.
So, how does Huawei in adversity keep the market share of 5G mobile phones first? The author believes that this is directly related to the advantages accumulated by Huawei in the early stage. In 2019, Huawei began to have an unfavorable situation, so it began to shift the focus of the mobile phone business back to the domestic market, such a change made its shipments in the domestic market surge by 66%, and the market share was once close to 50%; at the same time, Huawei also took the lead in developing a dual-mode chip that supports 5G NSA/SA, which also allowed Huawei to take a leading position in the 5G mobile phone market.
In 2020, Huawei's share of the domestic 5G mobile phone market reached 54.4%, only because in September of the same year, TSMC and other chip foundries could no longer produce chips for Huawei mobile phones, and Huawei's shipments and market share of 5G mobile phones began to decline.
In addition to the 5G mobile phone market share ranking, the report also lists the 20 most popular 5G mobile phones in the third quarter of this year. Specifically, Apple occupies the top two, iPhone12 ranks first, iPhone12 Pro Max ranks second, but Huawei is the most mobile phone manufacturer on the list, ranking third to seventh mobile phones are from Huawei, in these 20 mobile phones Zhonghua mobile phone accounted for 11 models. Among them, the top rankings are Huawei Nova 7 and Huawei P40 Pro, accounting for 3.2% and 3.0 respectively.
As we all know, Huawei's mate series and P series sales every year are very impressive, the performance in the global market is not much worse than the iPhone, if not suffered this change, I think the top two estimates on this list are Huawei models.
Finally, there is a saying that seeing this data is on the one hand happy for Huawei, on the other hand, it is also a pity for Huawei. Happily, in such a difficult environment, Huawei can still hold 30.7% of the domestic 5G market share, which is really gratifying; unfortunately, compared with Huawei's previous 50% 5G mobile phone market share, it has now declined a lot, and this year Huawei failed to launch a 5G mobile phone, if the development of this situation continues, Huawei's 5G mobile phone market share will continue to decline.
